I see that there are a number of different tools avalible:
ElmScan 5 NEW!
Can I use any one of them?
The ElmScan5 is the newest model from scantool. It works with all cars. The other models also all work, but you need to get the right one for your car. ISO/VPW/PWM are all different OBDII standards that cars implemented. There is a list on the site that shows which models work with which cars, or just get the ElmScan5 and it supports all three formats ISO/VPW/PWM in one unit and autodetects which one your car is.
Buying one just for you model car is cheaper than purchasing the ElmScan5, but they all work with Centrafuse.
I assume other devices that use Elm chips will work, and if not we can get them to work with not much work, and we plan too...
Does anyone know if it will work with the mOByDic interface (http://www.digimoto.com).
mOByDic is multi-protocol and includes CAN support.
If it doesn't support it, David any chance?
note sure... I didn't see anything about OBDII on that link... If it's based on the ELM chip then there is a good chance we can easily make it work. Otherwise if the company is willing to work with me, we also maybe able to add support....
While we talking about OBD tools here what chance of integrating either Ecutek's delta dash (its skinnable via xml) or TARIs ecu explorer, I am talking specifics to the Subaru range, but there are a large number of Subaru carputers out there, I would say its probably in the top three most popular rides to put a puter in.
Ecutek.co.uk or tari.co.za can help out with a download, ecutek will run in demo mode until you buy a licence, tari is free.
