  • Missing feature in NAV

    Hey David,

its not realy a bug, but im missing the little arrow in the top left corner of the NAV-Screan that indicates the next direction and distance (left arrow, 500m...).
Is it possible to ad this like it was in the D3 Engine?

    Thanks.

As you approach the turns you should still see the next turn across the top... To get your turn by turn list click on the view icon, the eye, and click show turns...

This pulls up a more touch screen friendly turn by turn that we designed...

The turn distance is not calculated perfect in RC2, but this has already been fixed in RC2.1...

        didn't want to start a new thread on something this insignificant;

Postcode search seems to take about 2minutes to load.
And Shortest/Quickest & the button below it still have the symbols showing from RC1 overlayed upon the text labels from RC2.

Sometimes on CF restart NAV doesn't display map. You have to close CF, load Destinator window and close it, then reload CF.

You have also disables some function in RC2 which allowed POI's to be turned on through Destinators own Dialog boxes, but you haven't added options within CF to turn them on/off, not that I can find anyway

Still no POI alert for items such as Speed Cameras/Roadworks etc., might also be nice to have a blackspot alert that warns as you approach schools etc.

I would like to see a home button somewhere as finding HOME in the favorites takes way to many button clicks and delays waiting for lists to load... All other nav software I've used has a home button on the first routing window, or even on the main screen.

Could CF be made to show speed on all windows? In the top bar somewhere maybe?

I think it would also be great to have some indication of satelite signal strength on the top bar also on all windows. Like a mobile signal strength meter.

Is there any plans to make FAV's & POI's searchable?

One thing I did find a little strange this morning was that I used the full postcode to get me to work, although it said I had reached my destination a full 1.5 miles before I got there! Now I'm not certain that the address it showed wasn't under the same postcode... But it shouldn't be. The last 2 letters in a UK postcode usually signify the street, and side of the street. Yet it claimed my destination was almost 1.5 miles from where it really was.

Now this happens only when I let it navigate by postcode only without entering a street name. My own postcode however finds my street and only a certain range of house numbers on my street so what happened this morning seems a little strange!

I'm waiting for the POI show/notshow on the map function to get added to our SDK, should get it this week hopefully...

I will get the quickest/shortest display problem fixed...

Never had the map not load, weird...

I plan to add go home button and speed cam support is on my list of features that will be added...

Searching POI's seems like a good idea, I will look into it...

Showing sat and speed globally isn't a bad idea, just don't have the room right now, I will look into it...

RanaUK is making a D3 front end (Called CarJatra) to beat all others

His approach was to create a blank access database and read in all the map details direct from the map file.
It takes about 20minutes to analyse a map but it only needs doing once.
Postcodes, streets, towns, POI's etc. He then can do partial text searches of any analysed map items and its mega fast. And it narrows down the list as you type more letters in.
He can also route to more than one place... Not sure how he did it but there you go, Im not a programmer

POI's can be brought onto the map via the destinator window (run outside CF), Pressing F1 or F2 brings up the POI menu, click the little eye logo next to each POI makes them show on the map.

David as already mentioned above CF RC2 is missing postcodes, yet when I press F1 in the gps screen and get the destinator screen up it shows all postcodes so this is therefore a problem with CF and not my maps. When you did something to make postcodes show quicker you must have broke something.

I'm looking into it... The postcode speed issues were manual me switching from a text to binary search when clicking the keyboard...

All the items should still be in the list, they are for the North American maps I have...

It could be a map compatiblity issue, but I know you say it worked previously, so I am looking into it...

If you have the lastest uk maps try search for postcode NG13 and see if it shows in the list on RC2
