  • Weather App Will Not Update

Weather applet just all of the sudden quit updating weather data. Just blank spaces where conditions should be. All locations I try end up with same result. Using Centrafuse 3.5 with weather app set to auto-dial in settings with an excellent wireless signal strength. Any ideas?

Hmm... that's no good. Thanks for the info though! Are there any other alternative weather apps for centrafuse 3.5?

Check this app out. Works good for me. It's available in the CF market as well.

It's a great app. Willem wrote it to take advantage of GPS, so if you have internet you'll always have current weather during your travels.

Yes but does it show Doppler radar. I am desperately in search of a Doppler radar app as I don't have time to write my own. The forecast is fine but I need real time Doppler.

World Weather Online, the API that Willem is using (you must register for an API key - it's free) is an RSS feed - no doppler.

Did somebody say Doppler Radar? Why yes, we can do that. I've got a couple of items on my plate right now, but I'll pass the code to Willem so he can add current doppler data (US only...sorry folks) to his app if he so desires. If not (he may want to keep it truely global), then I'll put it out as a little add-on app.

                    Week or two...maybe less.

Hey, I resemble that remark! I'm currently working to convert this to the V3 Google Maps API as the code still uses the V2, and you know how Google is about shutting stuff off these days. It's not animated (yet...ever), it just pulls the latest data for your GPS location, but it updates about every 5 minutes which is probably sufficient to keep folks aware of current conditions.

Radar data is available for other parts of the world, but generallly not in a format the can be easily parsed and displayed on a custom map. Most likely, you will have to pull the current gps location, figure out what a particular site uses (postal code, city, country etc), pass in the data and display a web page.

The Nexrad radar app is now available in the Centrafuse market.

Very simple app...takes your location and displays the current radar image. Requires a nav app (Destinator, GPSEngine or GPSPort) and an internet connection. Auto updates every 5 minutes.
