if gps position does not change after 30 minutes display a message that the pc will be shut down in 1 mn.
In no user input shutdown or hibernate the pc.
Make it a configurable option in the settings page to enable/disable.

I'm requesting this because my carpc is not connected to accessory line. I use a button to switch it on/off and I sometimes forget to shut it down and come back an hour later to find it still running :-)

This is done. Grab a test version from my website. The option is under Settings, GPS, Auto-Shutdown. You can set it to 5 minutes to test it.

Also, under Settings, Display, Transitions, set that to True. This will add some additional eye-candy to the weather widget.

just a thought as in my garage there is no GPS reception, what happens in this case? Does the app rely on the last known gps position when there is no signal?

The way I wrote it, the program only checks for this auto-shutdown condition when there is a GPS fix available. No GPS reception means the program has no way to know if you're moving or not (aside from OBD-II info, which might not even work). 30 minutes without GPS fix could just mean there are solar flares or you're parked in a tunnel and getting it on with a girl.

I think I can change it to also react after 30 minutes of no GPS fix. And I think I will change it so any user input (keyboard or mouse) resets the timer for the auto-shutdown. I'll have to think about it more..

haven"t had time to test it yet but I think there is one last problematic hardware condition: my M2-ATX will re-power the carpc as soon as it is shutdown since the power trigger pin is still connected when the shutdown command is issued !!! I think I should find a hardware device to disconnect this pin when DriveLine issues the shudown command. maybe use a combination of Phidgets and relays !!!

I think you should test this. It might not be a problem at all. Just start the car, and shut down windows. See if it starts back up or not. I think the power-supply only starts the PC when the voltage on the trigger pin goes from low to high. But I might be full of crap on this.

And besides, wouldn't this only be happening when the car is off?

EDIT 2: Oh, i get it. Your power button switch is hooked up to the battery instead of an accessory wire?

that's the reason. That's why a relay or phidget combination would probably be the right solution.

To tell you the truth I have no idea how these things work
Any tips about what to buy ? which device is generic enough to be used for other stuff like cutting audio when reverse gear is engaged !

I have a question. Does the PC shut down automatically if you cut power to the trigger pin?

To start you need the main unit 1018 or 1019 with 6 usb ports but they are only 1.1 usb not 2.0 The 1018 is 8 analog/8 digital in and 8 out. It would be pretty easy having your reverse wire going to input and having it send signal to relay on output. Using their relay board. Most have clear acrylic enclosures. Here is the 1018 http://www.phidgets.com/products.php...duct_id=1018_2 and here is the dual relay board http://www.phidgets.com/products.php...duct_id=3051_1 or if you don't have that much draw this would be fine http://www.phidgets.com/products.php...duct_id=3053_0 Or just use your own 5v relay. Good solid product. SNO
