  • Directed HD Radio

I have the Directed HD 1000 connected and functioning from the desktop. I believe the Comm Port, Baud Rate, and Output are set correctly in Driveline, but when I select HD Radio, I receive a message that says "HD Radio not Ready". I'm sure I have missed something and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Make sure the baud rate set in DriveLine and the baud rate set in Device Manager are both correct for the HD Radio. I've had reports that it can cause a problem if they don't match. Also, make sure no other program is using the comm port.

Yeah, I get the error "HD Radio not Ready" unless I have the baud rate at 115200.

Thanks guys. Setting the baud rate to 115200 worked, which brings up another question, how do I turn off the radio if I want to listen to mp3s? When I switch from HD Radio to Media, the radio continues to play.

Thanks again for the baud rate suggestions.

When you activate one playback device, it should deactivate all others. So, if you unmute the Media, it should automatically mute the HD Radio. If that's not working, you could mute the HD Radio manually by clicking on the little speaker icon in the HD Radio screen. If that's still not working, make sure the 'Audio Input Line' within DriveLine is actually pointing at the correct line. Is your HD Radio audio wired into your PC through a Line-In or Mic, or not wired into the PC?

What version are you using, could possibly be from before you fixed the mixers around august 2013 was that fix SNO

SNO, I'm using the January 7 release. I believe this is the latest release.

ClockWork, I have the HD Radio plugged into the Line in on my USB Sound Card. I'll try plugging it into one of the Mic inputs on the USB Sound Card and/or the Line in on the onboard sound card. I also tried muting the radio before switching, but nothing happened. If I unmute the Media, both the HD Radio and Media files are played at the same time.

I'm sure I am missing something small. Thanks for the responses.

If you have some RealTek sound/mixer software running, that may conflict with DriveLine. Often times, it gets installed along with the audio driver.

I don't have any RealTek software on the system, but I do have the mixer software from C-Audio that came with the USB Sound Card. I'll uninstall it and see if that changes anything.

Awesome. Let us know if that resolves your issue. RealTek, C-Media, SoundMax, all that crap can cause a conflict.

I uninstalled the C-Audio software, but I still encountered the same issue. It also basically turned off all functionality of the USB Sound card, I was only able to get two speakers to play sound. I also tried plugging the output cable from the HD directly into the onboard sound card, but still encountered the same issues. I'll keep testing various changes and let you know what I find.

If you are still using the January version, I recommend updating to the latest version. It might resolve the issue.

(or it might cause your PC to burst into flames)
