  • Intel NUC CarPC

    Hi guys,

Back to the forum after a long pause.
I'm planning to get a new setup. I'm interested in the intel NUC machines.

    Anyone using something like this?
what kind of PSU? 12 or 19V? I read the NUC accepts power from 12v to 19v...
I already have a USB DAC for music.

I thought about using one, but went with a mini-itx socket G2 mobile based system using the Voom2pc case instead, mainly because it has 8 USB2 and 4 USB3 ports. I guess if you use a USB3 hub you can get more ports.

I like the size of the NUC better though.

well I just upgraded to a new setup: i7 + Asus Z87I pro + M350 + 8GB + 256GB 2.5 intel SSD. The thing is fast but overkill so I'm taking it out and using it for a VMware lab. I want to replace it with a NUC just behind the 8 inches screen.

and since I already have a 256GB mSata drive the NUC would be perfect. It can even use a 2.5 SSD drive.

Yeah I put one of those postage stamp sized mSATA drives on mine too. Fast and plenty of storage.

I have an i3 based laptop and put an SSD in it, and even though it's the slowest i3 made, it's still plenty fast, so I think the NUC will be just fine for a carpc if you have enough USB ports for your setup.

I'm fed up with cables and all that. I decided to tuck this behind the touchscreen. It will probably have more fresh air than in the trunk.
