  • Volume down when Routis speaks!

    Hello everybody,

When I play music with FP when routis speaks the directions I cant hear it because of the music. When I use Winamp it works fine, the music mutes for a little bit (when routis speaks) and come back up.

Is there any option i could check to do this ??

    Thanks

Play with the volume setting in Routis.
    Menu>Volume>
Use Test feature to adjust while running FP music in back...

I don't know what we are going to be able to do. Routis bumps up the wave volume, which will also bump up frodoplayers volume.

          volume control ??

What if the volume in FP is controled through Wave, and lets say Routis control Master Volume. So FP can turn down WAVE for 3 sec when ROutis speaks through Main Volume.
I don't know how this might change you software structure though...

And one more minor thing "Can you design a Icon for FP so when on taskbar it doesnt show as a default VB app, it looks more proffesional" , just a thought...

As long as you set FP to control master volume, you should be ok

You are not understanding, adjusting wave or master volume will affect the volume in
FrodoPlayer. Routis adjusts the wave volume, which will also bring up or down
              FrodoPlayer.

Well how do they do it in the built in OEM navigation units?

I know this is not as graceful or even feasable but how about pausing what is playing while a voice command is given

That would be viable if I knew how to detect it.

the only way i can think of is to have some sort of listener that would pause the playback if it detected anything else playing over the music.

This could have all sorts of adverse side effects including additional resource usage.

I wish there was away but without integrating a GPS into frodoplayer it just doesn't seem feasible

They do it in OEM systems by lowering the music level when GPS directions are given.

Well that's what the one in my merc did when I had it.

What about a cheap and nasty USB sound card and direct the sound into that from routis, then send that into the line in or CD in of your main sound card.

FrodoPlayer would have to run off some kind of virtual channel to make it independant of the Wave volume control. Are there any plug-ins that allow for this? I know that with audio editting programs you can load in plugin drivers to add effects, EQs, etc. I believe WinAmp runs this way too.

Why is that, PC's can have multiple sound cards, just set winamp to talk to one and routis to be the main one.
