  • Can't shutdown in Frodoplayer but can if I exit out of it

I get that error "It is now safe to turn off your computer" when I shutdown from Frodoplayer. If I exit out of Frodoplayer and then shutdown then it does so just fine. Is it some kind of driver issue or am I just missing a setting here in Frodo?

    Thanks!

I've only seen that one other time, and I don't know how to fix it.

Since a lot of us use Frodoplayer and I havent heard of this issue yet, try this:

Use Task Manager to determine the programs that are currently running on the computer. Manually quit each program that is listed in Task Manager (besides Frodoplayer), and then try to shut down and restart the computer to test if the shutdown problem is resolved. To do this, follow these steps:

      a. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
      b. Click the Applications tab.
      c. In the Task column, click the program that you want to quit, and then click End Task.
      d. Quit Task Manager.
      e. Shut down the computer.

Hopefully you can narrow it down to a program that is running along with Frodoplayer. They also say it could be a driver issue, but I dont see how if it shuts down normally when Frodoplayer is down.

Yeah, I had investigated quite a bit on this issue before I posted here. I'm using Windows XP Pro. I did the task manager trick and thats how I determined it was FrodoPlayer that was not allowing me to shutdown. I only have 2 applications installed on the laptop and thats Frodoplayer and WinDVD. It could be a driver issue but you're right, I'd suspect that would be an issue if I couldnt shut down at all, but this just happens in Frodoplayer.

I started having that issue last night too, had had to reinstall windows on my computer and now when I try and shut down in frodoplayer it doesn't fully shut down it comes up with the it's now safe to shut off your computer message, before I reinstalled it shut down fine though, also using XP pro.

Something similar started happening to me too...i can shut down fine if i use the start menu...even while frodoplayer is running. But if i shutdown from frodoplayer it says shutting down...saving settings...and then my screen goes blank, but the pc is still running. If i hit the power button the pc then shuts down fully. Funny thing is it did actually shut down from frodoplayer once in the ten times i tested it.

Yeah, I don't have any options in the BIOS for power management or an ACM tab in the Power Management. I've looked over some Microsoft pages and have come up to no avail. Something in Frodo is impeding me to shutdown. I'll continue to investigate and hopefully something comes up.

I didn't know WinXP had the "It's now safe to shut off your computer" message.

For those users with the message all the time, not just with Frodoplayer, see this article that explains how to correct it. I have had a couple older computers pop up with that, and this trick fixes it, you just have to tell the device manager that you are compliant.
