this is a double post from the openice forums. I thought I'd also post here for those who don't visit those forums (forums.openice.org).

2.1 is making good progress. It's still a week or so out, but to let you know what is still coming, here's a screenshot of the nowplaying screen:

The gray box next to the title is a placeholder for album art, which is pretty close to working. Right now, the layout is just a hack. I've been throwing crap on the screen and focussing on the code. Expect the final screen to look a lot better.

we are going to see if we can get nobd (nghost's OBD2 plugin) into 2.1.

If there is enough demand, we can delay 2.1 further in order to get handsfree and a few other plugins finished in time. what do you think?

Looks like a good start. I do have a question: What do you have planned for that extra space beneath the song rating?

Perhaps you could display the comments tag in the MP3 (if properly tagged), or maybe even a visualization. Or even the playlist or the next 2-3 songs in the playlist?

Looks good. I'm waiting for the day that I can ditch Windows altogether and go to Linux.

I think it would be awesome if it came out soon and let advanced users play with the hands free extras even if it isn't native.

Also I really like the album art layout. It is really cool to see album art almost full screen (similar to Iphone and touch)

The NCarInfo plugin is making progress as well.

This will allow scantool integration, statistics gathering, etc...

here's another screenshot of the ncarinfo screen. As always, the interface is completely skinable:

performance needs work, but other than that, it's working great.

kev000, I really appreciate your efforts of bringing a linux front end to the community. Linux, in my opinion, is the ideal setting for a front end since it can be built from the ground up to serve one purpose: Be a carPC front end. Thanks for the updates, I look forward to seeing where this project goes.

                      How bout XM support?

Will this frontend ever support satellite radio?

Possibly, I'm not entirely sure if any of the dev's even own satellite radio, so if you do and can program, then please help out with that
