okay, i see it now (after really close examination j/k). The third gauge is actually throttle, and has only one needle in real life. For some reason, my video capture software didn't capture it correctly and 2 needles show up.

Yes, that was with the random generator (default obdsim -o)
It's not the default [yet - please test, and I'll probably make it the default in future], but in svn there's now a "Cycle" generator. Sure, the numbers are still patently unrealistic, but at least now they look better.
