  • im converting from winxp to + riderunner to linuxice

    hi guys new here just trying this out hopefully i can have a full carpc with linux running this is what i have running so far

    EEEPC 701
    Windows XP Pro
    Roadrunner
    freefone 1.4 Alpha
    Bluetooth Handsfree utility
    Garmin Mobile PC -- currently using a blutooth reciever from my mobile using extgps
    Bybyte Double-Din LCD Frame 629 LCDFR629
    Directed DMHD-1000 HDRADIO (with mitchjs HD Radio PC Interface cable)

    i have downloaded openice live cd + maps and seems to run ok on my eeepc



    questions:
    what do i need to get HD radio to work with openice?
    does the built in navit suite support bluetooth gps recievers?
    is there a gui bluetooth management utility built in to the OS?

      The way the HD radio works is that simple serial commands are sent. If you can write out the serial port then you are set. I believe one of the RTS/CTS lines is set up for MUTE (I can't remember right now).

        What kind of HD radio? The visteon plugin isn't built into linuxice right now. This may change in the future. The boomzbox driver and support is in progress though.

        yes, navit, more specifically gpsd supports bluetooth gps rec. You will have to find the device (usually /dev/ttySomething) and run dpkg-reconfigure gpsd to configure gpsd to use that device.

        There is a gui for bluetooth management built in.

        Other things that are missing are bluetooth handsfree calling. a2dp streaming isn't supported by default either, but I wrote a howto to set it up. The next version of LinuxICE will have all that love.
