  • Use Media Engine as a Photo Viewer

For people who want to use M.E as a photo-viewer and have not
    foundout for themselves how to do that;

Just place your photo's (jpg-files) in the directory-tree where your
music and movies are in (preferably in a subdir like "photos")

Add file type .jpg to the list of supported video extensions.
Media Engine will now rescan your files and add the photos to your
    library.
To watch, choose "Browse Media" from the main-menu, go in the photo-
directory and choose the first photo-file.
Once in the movie-player you can go forward and backward with the
    respective buttons.

    Just thougth to share ;P

Would be nice if it is possible to define more than one path to your
media files. In this way, you could have an usb-cardreader where you
can put CF-cards in with mp3's or photos on it.

Thanks for the tip, it works great. Now I can d/l from my digital camera and see them on a bigger screen. I ran into one problem, they are all upside down. Any idea why? They aren't that way when I view them in WinXP.

Which version of MediaEngine are you using ?
I use 2.1 on Windows XP Pro sp1+ and have no problems.
Maybe it has to do with codecs on your system. (I assume
the display is done via some video-codec.)
Maybe CarComp can shed some light on this !

There is another thread with a simulair flipped video problem on URL
          http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=21620

          Looks like a codec problem.

Interesting thread. I don't have a problem playing video. At least that I know of, I've only played divx 5.1 files. I haven't tried hooking up a DVD and playing that yet. Here are the codec's that I show installed, any ideas which one it could be?

            Cinepack Codec by radius inc.
            Indeo codec by intel
            Indeo video 5.10
            ir41_32.ax
            iyuv_32.dll
            Microsoft RLE Codec
            Microsoft Video 1
            msh261.drv
            msh263.drv
            msyuv.dll
            tsbyuv.dll

I don't see DivX or XVid in there anywhere dude. Also, you might want to try The Big Fix, which has come to my rescue many times when my video went screwy (upside down, all green etc). Sometimes crap is caused by weird conflicts. Search DivX.com for The Big Fix, and you should be able to find it.

Apparently three divx codec's are installed. I used GSpot on one of my video files and it says that I have three capable of playing that file.

Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (advanced)
                Cyberlink MPEG Layer-3 Encoder
                MPEG Layer-3 Decoder

Wouldn't all of these have to do with the sound and not video?

anyway, I've downloaded the big fix and I'll give it a try.

                Thanks,

Hey now thats some thinking. That never even occurred to me to try that. BTW, heh if your pictures are upside down, just start taking them holding your camera upside down and then, well, they should be rightside up. Either that or turn your monitor upside down. (Sorry I couldn't resist)
                    Get MediaEngine !!!

                        (you silly man...!)

Anyway, do you think it's possible to make so that pictures are automatically downloaded from the camera into the video directory?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably dependent upon a codec (mjpeg perhaps) that you have installed on one machine and not the other. The fact that it works at all is a hack, so don't misunderstand my attempt to help with the notion that we support this functionality.
