  • Installing ME skins?

OK, I hate to ask stupid questions... but... I have searched on how to install ME skins... I have found a couple threads talking about this but it seems I have done what they say... I am playing with ME 2.1 on my home PC... just trying to get a feel for the interface... anyway, I have unzipped a new skin to my C:\program files\media engine\skins directory... then I started ME and went to the "appearance" tab but there is only the "torque" or "torque40" in the drop down. What have I done wrong? Am I missing something simple? Any input would be REALLY, GREATLY appreaciated. Thanks in advance.

Not sure why your MediaEngine folder is in program files, I thought it installed to C:\MediaEngine2.0 by default. Anyways, where ever your skins folder is make sure that the .skn file that came with the skin you are trying to add is in the "skin" folder (i.e. the .skn file should be in ....\MediaEngine2.0\skins and there should be a folder that contains all the skin files and should have the same name as the .skn file) Should look like this......
    Attached Files
1.6GHz HP e-PC, 768MB RAM, 120GB WD HDD, Slim DVD-ROM, Onboard sound & video, 7" Lilliput, USB GPS Mouse, Audiovox FM Modulator, Vector 400 Watt Power Inverter, Windows XP Pro SP2, iGuidance 2, 15" Samsung LCD for the rear *Carputer not installed*

Thanks for the reply... maybe thats part of the problem... first of, when I installed, I usually make all programs go the the "program files" folder... then beyond that, I noticed that my skins folder is cluttered with all kinds of junk... could it have unzipped ALL of the files into the skins folder instead of a folder for the skin files and the .skn file only. I'll check that tonight when I get off work... Thanks again!

OK, for the record, I figured out what the problem was after unzipping a couple other skins DL'd from the MediaEngine site... one of them was unzipping but was creating a folder that contained the .SKN file AND the other file folder of images and stuff... I copied them from that folder into the SKINS directory... and it worked... for the record, the OTHERS unzipped correctly... anyway, thanks... now... how about MediaEngine skin maker... where to find it?! The same spot you found MediaEngine (mediaengine.org).
