  • Multiple Media Folders?

Hello. I've got my media spread across two drives (C:\media and an external USB drive at E:\Prog Rock). I used the Disk Management tool in Computer Management to mount my E:\ drive to C:\media. After rebuilding the database, everything on E:\ appeared within my C:\media media folder. You'd think I'd be happy with that, right?

My issue is that I only want to see the single directory E:\Prog Rock appear in the database. Unfortunately, all the system files and hidden files that reside on E:\ also appear in the database view, making it more difficult to navigate from directory to directory to select media to play. Is there any way I can mount ONLY E:\Prog Rock to C:\media, rather than all of the E: drive?

I'm running XP with all patches. ME is 2.1.5, and running just fine right now.

    Many thanks for any help,

    Paul

Thanks, Phat. Your FAQ post was what got me started. I must be retarted, as I wasn't able to get junction to do exactly what I wanted it to do. I'll try again tonight.

If I'm reading your request correctly, I think what you want to do is create a linked folder inside of c:\media . Be sure to enclose any path names with spaces in them inside double quotes when using junction. Off the top of my head that would look like:

        c:> junction "c:\media\Prog Rock" "e:\prog rock"

This will give you a folder structure as such:

        c:\media
        c:\media\Prog Rock

That's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish. I'll start with your suggestion later tonight.

          Have a good day!
