  • Disableing this video popup

I'm afraid I don't know exactly what to call it, I attatched a picture of it. This pops up when playing video files and it senses keypresses. The pallete for it seems to be messed up and it looks like it's supposed to have a transparent background but it ends up just blacking out. With high quality blitted lists enabled it causes a drastic drop in framerates while it is moving on screen (Could that just be my imagination?), it also can't seem to make up it's mind where it wants to be since sometimes it will slide up and down the screen several times before stopping at the top.

I've tried turning off animations (and it stops moving), touch screen, and Display Infobars, but it always apears. I even thought to look at winamp/MP6/system codecs to see if it was some outside media menu but came up dry. Any way to make it go away, it blocks the info bar and volume display at the top. The system is running on an M1000.

That's extremely odd - that's the builtin control bar, and it's supposed to 'pop up' at the bottom of the screen. Something is seriously screwy with your box.

It's always been like this for me. The same thing was hapening about a year and a half ago with my first car system (which was subsiquently stolen), I've just gotten around to replacing it.

So this time I've got the latest (current) ME, plus I tried the release previous to this one. I've tried it with a virgin XP install, and with several XPLite and Nlite xp installs (I've been playing with unrelated things, but the problem has persisted), with both Winlogin and Minlogin, and with and without powerstrip. The only thing this system has in common with the original machine is the M1000 (which now has the newest firmware and drivers) and the screen (which is brand new, but the same model as it was previously)

I did just try it in VMware and I see what you mean, and what it's supposed to do. Is it a skinned bar, could I just remove the image somehow? I'm not using a touchscreen so I'ld rather just remove the bar entirely if it's easier than fixing the real problem.

I have the same issue when I disable the touchscreen function of mediaengine.

Hmmm, I'll try turning touchscreen back on and see if it works correctly.

Any ideas on how to fix this phat_bastard?? In my new system I am not using a touchscreen and don't want to enable the touch menus.

I think I understand now - you're seeing this with touchscreen mode off. Didn't get that out of the first post. It's a layering / visibility issue and I should be able to patch this later this afternoon for you. I just committed 2.3.3 yesterday, so you'll be the first to test 2.3.4.

Thanks. On a different issue, I am running CoPilot (runs fullscreen) for my GPS software and an IR remote. When I select GPS the program starts up but isn't "selected" ie the keyboard doesn't move the menu. I have click on the screen before I can move the menu. I have got around this by running a batch file from ME to start the GPS software instead of the exe but it is just a bit messy. Is there an easy fix for this?

Awesome phat_bastard, I did just verify that it only happens w/ touchscreen off, everything is normal with it turned on. Can't wait for the update.

                  Rock on!
