  • power button options

Ok so first post...been lurking for awhile now.

I have finally settled on ME as my front end, it is slick smooth easy to use and looks awsome....cept for the pesky XM thing

However my one question would be......is there a way to make the "power" button just kill ME instead of the entire computer. I don't use hibernate or standby mode. I have my pc to the point where it cold boots in about 15 seconds...and thats fine by me. So I would really like a way to just kill ME with the power button, or at the very least disable it completley so it doesn't accidently get pushed.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Which "power" button are you referring to, the ACPI power button wired to your motherboard? What do you mean by 'disable it'? Sorry if I seem dense, it's Monday morning... :-[

He must mean the "shutdown" button in the ME interface. You can effectively disable it by just removing it from the skin right?

Yes I do mean the shutdown button in the ME interface.

I tried going into the skin maker however the only option is to shutdown the computer......I would like to have it just shut down media engine so I can get to the desktop if needed, currently the only way to do that (without a keyboard alt, tab) is to bring up the configuration screen then choose exit app.

What would make me mostest happy would be to have it bring up a option menu like the neocar media center does......if not that then having it just shut down ME would be better then the available options for me.

If you click the upper right hand corner of the main menu it will exit to windows. You can select what the shutdown button does in settings, but exiting the program is not one of the options.
