  • External Apps revisited...

I am trying to run Evolution VIII's radioSHARK program to run my radioSHARK http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...Evolution+VIII. When running as an external it runs, but I get no app bar, and when I close the radioSHARk program, ME is hidden. The only to get back to ME is to kill the task. Using Tim Lake's workaround works http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...ght=walkaround. But, it causes a giant DOS box to show, once I minimize that it, it works OK. Compiling the batch file as a Ghost Application http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...alkaroundworks great, for 2 seconds, then ME goes back to normal mode. Is there a better solution to this problem? How exactly do you have the bach file set Tim?

Out of curiosity, what version of ME are you running?

There are really only two reasons why you wouldn't see the external app bar.

    1) the app you're running is using directx to 'take over' the display adapter - this prevents regular windows from being displayed (which includes MediaEngine)

    2) the app you're using is stealing the zorder (topmost window setting)

In the car, where I actually have the radioSHARK installed. 2.3.3. On My home PC where I only have the rS software installed is 2.3.4. I haven't had a chance to update the carputer yet. I get the exact same results with both versions.

So, there's no real fix, other then getting the app programmer to rewrie his app?

I don't know. If the radio shark app is using directx or some other direct graphics mode then yes. Is the app something that is minimizable? Does it have a title bar, min/max/close buttons? Does it have a fullscreen mode that's controllable (can you turn it off / on)?

It can be minimized, but it minimizes down to the lower left corner, instead of up to the task bar. There is no title bar, and no fullscreen. You can edit the skin .ini file to make it whatever size you want. It was originally intended as a Road Runner plugin, so I'm guessing he used whater RR was written in.

          I did try Frodo's Launch ************! http://frodoplayer.com/nonuke/downlo.../LMF_1.1.0.zip

          LMF did not help either.

          Thanks,
