Not a problem of no lovins, I think it's more that we're all standing here staring, waiting for a little more detail as to what you're looking for. Recommendations for a complete setup are a little hard to do, because there are SO many different ways to do it. AMD or Intel? Windows or Linux and what version? What other software? Touchscreen, static display, or other hardware controller? What kind of GPS/software?

There are so many variables to this that it's almost impossible to suggest a config that will make YOU feel you built exactly what you wanted. This is a research-intensive portion of the project: planning. Most people start with what they have laying around already (like I did), and upgrade components as they get new ideas or more money to throw away.

Plan it out like you would your home computer, although this time, instead of focusing on power and speed, focus on electrical requirements and useability on the move. The machine doesn't have to be mini-micro ultra small if you have room for something bigger, and therefore more expandable later on. It may or may not be able to run the latest and greatest processor/hardware, depending on the power supply method you choose, what your car's electrical system will tolerate, and again, how much money you have to throw away.

I get the feeling that everyone else is whistling while they look around at nothing, doing their best not to post the obvious, so I will post it for them.
On behalf of all the seasoned "veterans" of this and all mobilePC forums around the globe, I say to you:

Study your *** off until you feel that you know exactly what you want to do, how you want to do it, and what you will do it with. It's how all of us got going, and there's no better way to do it. I know I wouldn't just start throwing aftermarket parts on my Cavalier's engine without studying up on it to see if it will do what I want it to do, and what other effects it may have on it in the long run.
