  • iGmod on Mobile Impact

Just wondering if anyone has tried this great software to enhance iGuidance shortcomings...http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...ighlight=igmod
Hopefully we can work this in!
I'm using it on RR and Centrafuse, will try today on MI.

      iGmod

I tried to get it to work by listing it as my GPS program and MI still opens iGuidance without iGmod. Red does so much now I was not going to ask but since others are interested as well. Got any ideas on how to make it work???

Altering the gps path doesnt seem to do anything, so I replaced iguidance.exe with igmod.exe and set GPSCLASS=ThunderRT6Form. The program loads fine and embeds, but before it displays media engine errors and says: Media engine error 5 invalid procedure or argument, then goes back to the media engine main menu.
Current projects: iGmod reloaded (Latest release) (put on hiatus indefinatly)

You mean Mobile Impact error, not media engine right? heh heh.
Let me first start off by sayin that iGmod is a great concept, and it was very nicely put together. However I have been playing around with it and have come to the conclusion that it performs somewhat poorly for practical use. I feel that the performance problem might make using it difficult if you had to make a quick turn and then it lagged and you missed your turn/exit or something. For the life of me I have not been able to figure out a different/better way to increase the font size on the dialogs and speed display which I applaud your efforts. I have been able to get it to automatically place checks in the check boxes of the speed alert dialog which I notice iGmod doesnt have a menu option for this, and I admit it was very tricky to get it working correctly. I also came up with a way to hide the default iGuidance dialogs as well. I am currently working on a similar interface that won't use any zooming. Unfortunately the speed box and dialogs will have to stay the same font size until I figure out a way to change it. The buttons will be much more graphical however, and it will function pretty much the exact same way that iGmod does, but it will be completely integrated into the program. I have pretty much all of the coding completed on it, I just need to arrange the menus and the graphics at this time. Mobile Impact already has the code written to zoom in and out. Below is a screenshot of how the new module will probably look. I inserted menu and view buttons in the bottom menu.

I hope the guys/gals from iGuidance are reading this!!!
They nn to make this more driver friendly! For example, the enter address, I found it almost useless since it's fairly impossible to find an address without a city being entered first.
Little things like that will give guys that are writing frontend to concentrate on their product not on the navi.

iGuidance is a great (almost) GPS program. it however cannot read your mind... ya know how many "maple streets" or "37th st s.w." or "broadways" there are in how many cities in the US? it has to know the city first in order to find the street/address you want.

I just installed 2.1 and it gives you an option of city or street first.

They are complaining to me because igmod is the only iguidance interface that forces you to skip the city step (which I have fixed in the new unreleased code)

EXACTLY TIM! Tha'ts the point, it shouldnt' ask you for city first!!
If it knows its gonna be a hard task to find Main st. in the state of New York, why does it ask??
2.1 is almost the same as 2.0 in that regard, I think the changes in the two versions are behind the scenes in the programming rather than the look of it.

because it has no way to know if you're wanting Mian street in NY city or Los Angeles, or Seattle.
I guess, unless i misunderstood the whole point of our discussion, it seems logical for a GPS program that covers thousands of cities with hundreds and hundreds of the same street names in all those different cities, that it should need to know first which city to look in to give you the right info to your given street name.

                          iGuidance interface update

The interface that Im currently developing for iGuidance automatically takes the user to city first if street first is selected, its all internal and there is no way to avoid it. It was an easy work around a minor difficulty that I had. I have also found 2 bugs so far in iGuidance 2.1. The program actually crashes with one, and on the other one, it doesnt do what its supposed to do.
Bug 1 -> If you go to Destinations, then Intersection, then dont type anything in, and hit the Ok button a few times, the program intermittently crashes.

Bug 2 -> If you go to Destinations then Points of Interest, then attraction, then Hit select all, then hit by distance, then hit the info button on anything selected in the list, then hit the nav button, it doesnt do anything but closes all the menus, and doesnt actaully plot the route.

I wonder if they fixed these in more recent versions.

The new version is very close to completion now. I am on the Point of Interest menus now and have them fairly complete. The rest of the menus are all done. The program reads the system registry to obtain settings, so when you go into the display or route options, it shows which items are selected. I expect to finish next week at the latest.
