  • RR Menu to emulate MM Menu button

    NM,

    In my attempt to gain full screen height for the MM display, I have created a Road Runner menu to emulate the MM menu button. Problem is, I can't find some of the commands in the MM SDK. From what I can tell the following RR commands work:

    d3_main_menu_empty.jpg,d3_main_menu_off.jpg,d3_mai n_menu_on.jpg,d3_main_menu_down.jpg

    /, B, x, y, w, h, Command;COMMANDCODES, Tooltip
    B,71,173,66,76,"EXIT||MM;LOCATE",locate
    B,5,173,66,76,"EXIT||MM;CancelRoute","cancel route"
    B,137,103,68,70,"EXIT||MM;PlayRecord","play/record"
    B,70,102,67,71,"EXIT||MM;Manoeuvres","roads"
    B02,70,25,66,77,"EXIT||MM;Show_GPS_Status","gps status"
    B03,136,26,69,77,"EXIT||MM;Settings","Settings"
    B04,5,103,65,70,"EXIT||MM;ShowRoute",show route
    B05,187,-1,23,25,"CANCEL","Cancel"

    END

    These don't:

    B,5,25,65,76,"EXIT||MM;???????????????","plan route"
    B,137,173,67,76,"EXIT||MM;QUIT","close map monkey"

    The first is the main menu item "plan route" which opens another menu with the different routing options, I think you call it the "Route To" menu. I need a command to call this second menu from RR. The next line I'm having trouble with is the exit or quit command. As written above, MM does nothing, maybe a brief blink when switching back from the RR menu, but it doesn't close MM.

    Another command that I have moved to the RR skin that doesn't work is this one:

    B31,159,66,59,54,"MM;Home","go home"

    I thought this was the command for MM to automatically create a route to the "home" location loaded in the config menu using lat/lon. As above, executing this command yields no response from MM.

    Lastly, I was wondering if you could create two new commands I've seen more and more in Road runner skins:

    Day/night toggle
    2D/3D/Birdseye view toggle

    I've seen this on two other skins and neither has it working. If I had played with their skins before developing my own I would not have included it. They both tried to accomplish it with hotkey commands, but RR doesnt allow TCP and hotkey (one or the other, but not both). Without these toggles, my two toggle buttons will have to be replaced with 5 individual command buttons and I just don't have the real estate available. The following is a mock-up of what my destinator screen looks like:

    So I would like to formally request toggle commands for views and day/night.

    Here's what I have on the ones you want:

    Day Night Toggle:
    "MM;Hotkey_CMD|FE_COLORMODE_TOGGLE"

    View Mode (2D/3D/BirdCrap View)
    "MM;Hotkey_CMD|FE_VIEWMODE_TOGGLE"

    Plan Route:
    "MM;Hotkey_CMD|FE_MENU_ITEM_ROUTETO"

    Quit:
    "MM;Hotkey_CMD|FE_QUIT"

    This brings you to the Map Screen if you have an open dialog
    "MM;Home"

    I suggest you check the HOTKEYS.ini file in MM. This has all the API commands that I use in RR, just prefix them like I have above.

    PM me, and I can send you my customised SkinEditor Object file with all the MM commands for RR.

      Hotkey commands copied into my skin file, but still no go. What do I need to do to turn them on?

          Also, apart from 1.1.348, make sure you have plugins enables and port 9913 in the settings.ini of MM. Check settings.ini has something like:

          [Plugins]
          //Allow custom apps to interact with the frontend?
          Enabled=Yes
          ListenPort=9913

            Now, if I can just figure out how to allow/keep the video sound to keep playing until I start another audio function ....

              The only way to play audio of videos while not in the video screen is while either the Mixer or Video Browser -- OR if you add the videos in the AUDIO browser, in which case the video screen MAY popup, but you can easily click on RR's screen and then it will be on the background...

                Hey Ruairi,

                Was playing around with the MM SDK this weekend and finally figured out single key command to route home:

                "MM;RouteTo|Longitude|Latitude"

                This was the only command left that I hadn't figured out. Thanx again for all your help.

                  Are there separate commands available in MM to switch DAY or NIGHT modes from within RR, rather than a toggle?

                  I see there is a MENU_BUTTON_DAY and MENU_BUTTON_NIGHT, but I cant seem to get these to work in the RR skin I'm mucking around with.

                      I use this command on my GPS button to ensure I have the correct MM Day/Night screen, when RR changes it's own Day/Night skins.
                      "GPS||MM;Set_Color_Mode|0" For MM Night screen
                      "GPS||MM;Set_Color_Mode|1" For MM Day screen

                      Hope this helps

                        Don't know the command, but if you click the Satellite Icon far left in the info panel it will try to re-connect GPS.

                            Sure Did
                            Got RR doing auto Day/Night skins, with MM changing screens on the RR "GPS" button.
                            That was the best I could do because when RR changes skin, MM has to be re-started anyway.....so it's no big deal just to hit the "GPS" button.
                            With the above commands, 1 on the day skin and 0 on the night skin, it ensures that MM is on the correct screen.

                            EDIT: Sorry.....that was repeating myself from my previous post....wasn't it. Please don't tell me off again !!!

                              Hmm, I still think it could be done using the onkinstart, but hey you got it working which is the main thing. And hopefully have learnt a bit more about both RR and MapMonkey
