  • Working Destinator PN SDK !

Hello guys, all u have to do for working destinator is to install ONLY service pack 1 for WinXP!

I have tried it and it is working.
It is also neccessary to have mfc71.dll in destinator (or system) directory!

Dont try to overwrite mpr.dll or iphlpapi.dll, if u have differrent service pack (SP2) installed. System will overwrite them immediatelly to original version.

    Waiting for responses...

    Celo.

P.S.: Any crack for SDK dll? I am looking for all maps working ;o)

Celo, have you managed to run the VB examples with VB6.0 / VB2003 / VB2005? (any of these)

I have the official Dest PN SDK, purchased from PowerLoc. I could run C_Client (but not the VB examples) when I purchased it but not anymore. I have Windows XP Pro SP2 and my computer is installing automatic updates (I guess that's the problem). I'll do a clean installation (no other software, just VB6) with SP1 (or even without SP if I find the CD) and check what happens.

I'll also turn automatic updates off.

    I'll keep you updated!

ps. No support from Powerloc at all. Haven't heard these guys for a long time!

I'm about to investigate Destinator PN for use with Freedrive and am going to get something together to get it to work.

        Will post my results.

            vb examples

VB example included in SDK try to create object and it seems o.k., but show/hide do nothing... Except hide throw exception ;o(.

Dont have VB or VStudio installed to try compile anything ;o(

Did Anybody try to code anything?

            celo.

              Celo,

I made two fresh installations... one with Windows XP SP1 and one with Windows 2000 without SP.

Then I install the DestPN package (actually it is a self decompressing RAR file). Notice that in order to run it I need two more files (not included in the package):

              1) MFC71.dll
              2) MSVCR71.dll

I copied those files to the system32 folder. After that Destinator runs fine. The problem I have is that when I try to register DestSDK.dll with regsvr32 it fails. Therefore the VB6 examples (I've also installed VB6 in the fresh installations) fail to run. The error message is: ActiveX component can't create object!

              Any ideas?

              Thanks in advance,
              George

did you had installed destinator 3 sdk?
got the same problem, try to unregister destsdk.dll and re-register it then.
if this still won't work try to clean your registry from all where destsdk.dll is part of it. it worked to me.
are you able to run the c_client.exe?

it'S a major problem of the destinator sdk. i managed it to create the object in vb. it starts the destinator application and shows and resizes the window but freezes after that. i visited destinator at the cebit and they showed me the newest version of their sdk but still without working vb exambles.
C++ works fine. i could create the com object and so on. i guess it's a problem with the threating-modell the dll use.

No, I did not had Dest 3 SDK installed. My windows installation was clean and I just installed Dest PN SDK afterwards. I did not try to run C_Client.exe but I assume that it is called by Destinator.exe (which is on the same folder), that runs succesfully for me on my clean installations!

So, you think that I should use Visual C++ ? I have a frontend written with VB6 which currently uses Dest 3 SDK. There has been done a lot of work and it would be a nightmare to me to re-write it in C.

Did the Destinator guys at CeBIT told you if they plan to fix the issue with VB?

I am also trying to contact them but that's not easy...

                    hematec,

I ran the already compiled C_Client.exe from folder C:\DestinatorApps\Destinator with no problem. The strange thing is that I can also run Destinator.exe, even though I'm testing it at my office PC which has Windows XP SP2 with all the recent updates installed and a lot of other software (for example Office 2003...)!

I have installed VC++ 6.0 and tried to build the C_Client example found in C:\DestinatorApps\Examples\C_Client but I get the following output:

Deleting intermediate files and output files for project 'C_Client - Win32 Debug'.
                    --------------------Configuration: C_Client - Win32 Debug--------------------
                    Compiling resources...
                    Compiling...
                    StdAfx.cpp
c:\destinatorapps\examples\c_client\stdafx.h(20) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'DestSDK.h': No such file or directory
                    Error executing cl.exe.

                    C_Client.exe - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

I would appreciate if you could help as I'm not very familiar with VC++

                      @gsova
you got that error because of you had to link to the include-file provided in the "DestinatoApps\Include\PC" directory. either you have to tell your compiler the path of this files by adding this directory to the include paths of your compiler or maybe copy them into your sample application path.

at the cebit there where only the guys from destinator. afaik the SDK was made and is supported by an company from luxembourg. they didn't knew much about the sdk at the destinator stand.

AFAIK the c_client.exe uses the destsdk.dll to talk to the destinator.exe (which is the main application). but if the c_client.exe is working i would say that the destsdk.dll has allready be registered correct.
i'm afraid to say that using c++ is the only way at moment to use the dest 5 sdk.
i'm also not very similar to c++. i just began of coding c++ a few weeks ago, but i'll try to help you as far as i can do.
i'm sure that you will also have other problems compiling the sample c client. i had to begin from scratch with my own sample but did not get very far because of a lack of time.

                        hematec,

thanks for your prompt reply. I also sent an e-mail to Destinator guys (once again), just in case they have any update for the ActiveX component error. I'm not very optimistic that I'll get a reply but you never know!

I did copy the two *.h files C:\DestinatorApps\Include\PC to C:\DestinatorApps\Examples\C_Client and I also had to change the #include refenerce at line 20 of file StdAfx.h. After that, I try to build the C_Client project and I get the following output:

Deleting intermediate files and output files for project 'C_Client - Win32 Debug'.
                        --------------------Configuration: C_Client - Win32 Debug--------------------
                        Compiling resources...
                        Compiling...
                        StdAfx.cpp
                        c:\destinatorapps\examples\c_client\destsdk.h(35) : error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'IDrumBuffer'
c:\destinatorapps\examples\c_client\destsdk.h(35) : fatal error C1004: unexpected end of file found
                        Error executing cl.exe.

                        C_Client.exe - 2 error(s), 0 warning(s)

I don't have time to investigate right now, but I'll give it a try the following days. If in the meantime you've found something, please let me know!

                        Many thanks,
                        gsova

Both, for now I prefer C#, but I have more experience with VB.Net (and VB6)

What matter is the Framework, I'm already using .NET Framework 2.0 ! Now it suppports Direct playback, Serial/USB/BT Connect, native.
