  • Think I foubd BUG with map monkey and media car

Hello, everything works fine with ver 1.1.3 except for this one thing. I have map monkey running embbeded perfectly into Media car, (latest version ver 1.91 i think) any ways here is the problem i start map monkey by pressing the GPS button. run it fine, do whatever I want etc. I must add that I also updated with the latest executable file that is supposed to fix the advanced GPS problem and closeing with the x button. Anyway now when I press the X in Media car to exit, it exits fine, but when I return to Map Monkey by pressing the GPS button again I get this error message below. This used to never happen before with other versions of map monkey, all the way upto beta 3 release I never had this problem. I can't remember if the original executable of ver 1.1.3 did this, I only have the updated one now. NM PLEASE HELP!

As I mentioned in pmy post I already updated the file with the fix. I works fine when I run it by itself, but not when I run it within media car

        Also get this error message

hello have more to add to my problem, I for the most part, get the error number 5 above, but once in a while I get error 91.
        Error Details:

        Number: 91
Description: Object variable or With block variable not set
        Source: Unload_Destinator
        Version: 1.1.344
        HelpContext: 1000091
        HelpFile:
        LastDllError: 0

I have recreated the same problem both in my laptopn and in my carputer, I can go into GPS in media car, use it, press the x button, to exit, and then press the GPS button to go back in to map monkey, once in a while it goes back in with no problem, but very rarely, 99% of the time I get that error no 5, and very few time error 91. I I press ctrl alt delete to go to the task manager, and I notice that the sapi plugin is still loaded even though I pressed the x in media car, and also nce in a while the maponkey.exe is still in the taskbar even after pressing the x, once I terminate these manually, I can the go back to media car and press the gps button, and it goes into map monkey fine, then I exit, tryh again, and get the same error. any ideas?

I think you will find that Map Monkey is still running.
Try Ctrl/Alt/Delete for Task Manager and check Applications
You have got to come out via Menu/Exit

Exactly, MapMonkey.exe is still running, as I explained in my post above with the second error message. It works fine when I exit via the exit button, but then I have to also press the x button in media car to go back to the media car main page. Kinda sucks. Wish I could get all the functionality like i had before with other mapmonkey versions, just simply press the x button in media car and it correctly exits mapmonkey, and this way I dont' have to do the "double exit" technique. any chance you can fix this NM?
            thanks

              Request for possible fix?

OK Sorry to post so much but I've been experimenting. Luckily I saved the First installation file of the ver 1.1.3 official release (the one sans the fix for advanced GPS and the so called x button to exit not working fix) I erased all my installation and re installed this original file. Now it works PERFECTLY!, so I think i've narrowed the problem being to whatever it was NM changed to "fix" the x button problem, now created a problem in my computer and it won't exit correctly using Media car, HOwever like I said ,before the fix, the original installation file allows me to exit perfectly out of map monkey and then back in as many times as I want through media car. WHile with the "new" installation file with the fix, doesn't allow me to go back into map monkey after I exit using the x button in media car. So now atleast I have it working how I like it, but the problem now is that I don't have the advanced GPS fix. I am hoping this following request I am going to do it possible. SO Ninja Monkey, would it be possible for you to create an executable file, that includes the advanced GPS fix, but doesn't have any of the changes or updates that you did to the exit scheme. meaning basically can you provide me with an executable file that is just like the original one provided in the very first official ver 1.1.3 release except add the advanced GPS fix to it and thats it, don't add any x button fix? i would GREATLY appreciate it.
              thanks,
              Carlos

                          Thank You So Much!

You did it NM! Downloaded your launcher, set it up as instructed, and now it all works! I am usig the executable with the Adv GPS fix, and I am able to open and close Map Monkey through the X in media car AS MANY times as I want without getting an error. PERFECT! got all the functionality I wanted. Once more Thanks so much.

Now just wanted to point something out not sure if you are aware. I just wanted to try the Sapi plugin to see how it works. I noticed (by checking the taskmanager) that when you press the X to exit, the Map Monkey.exe file now manages to close, however the Sapi Plugin stays in the task manager, when I reopen the GPS I get another instance opf the SAPIPlugin executable and my CPU usage goes all the way to 100%, the first instance of the sapi plugin is hoggin up all the processing power. I manually close the first sapiplugin and then cpu usage goes down to an acceptable 7%. Not a big deal at all, Guess I won't use the sappi plugin, don't want my CPU to overheat. but just wanted to make you aware of this just in case you already didn't know.

I actually noticed this myself tonight while creating the launcher!

I've placed some checks in the plugins to close themselves if map monkey is no longer running (map monkey is supposed to close them itself but if it crashes or is forced to quit then they are left running)

They'll be updated with the upcoming hotfix
