  • What would you think of stopping the requests ?

I think that it is time now to stop requesting for some days or weeks to leave me improve the stability of Mediacar and completely debug the actual version.

Also, it will give me more time to implement the last good requests and continue the implementation of Mappoint, destinator, DVD support, Radio, ...

If you agree to this, I will obviously accept bug repport but no more new requests until some times.

I hope that the functions of the current modules are enough for correctly use Mediacar every day, let me know your opinion.

    Coyote,

Sometimes, it's easier to get the stable app first before adding more functionality. Requests are good but sometimes, it has to come to a stop before moving on again.

Keep up the good work though. Are you going to make this into an opensource or keep the source closed?

Sounds good to me, I know how it is developing software!

Also, it would be great if you made it opensource!! We all could help then

        Coyote:

For work, I am in IT and we just had to force vendor to do just what you're suggesting . . . In the case of the vendor, they were adding so much functionality, so quickly, that they ended up with a lot of bugs in their software. We requested that they stop implimenting new capabilities until the base code was bug free, stable and all current functionality in the application was fully operational.

In regard to your application, as far as I can tell, the functionality is all working very well. However, I have only really played with the MP3 player component so my personal testing has been limited.

I doubt anyone would dispute that it is a wise decision to finalize all current code and then move forward with additional enhancements. On the other hand, I suspect that there can be a benefit to having a complete list of requested enhancements and then coding related enhancements all at once . . .

If you do not want more enhancement requests, I suggest that everyone follow your lead and not submit any.

Thank you again for putting so much hard work into such a terrific product!

Appart from DAB and Destinator ( which you have in scope ) I would say the app is almost complete any way so... yes... lets hold it for the mo....

I want to complete my skin but its seems more is been added all the time.. not very easy to keep up with.

I would ask Coyte if you can publish some thing so us skinners can include the radio, destnator parts of the skins ready for when they are done. If you want you could PM me the details.

I think we all need to step back for him to have some room, in this way even those that can't code can support him.

I have no problems with you slowing down the releases to implement all (or most of) the new features.

The ones I am most looking forward to are Destinator and Dlink Radio.

Will also give us skinners a chance to catch up (I know some haven't implemented certain things yet ) and hopefully you can keep us skinners informed about what bits you are adding so that we can update our skins to reflect the functionality in the latest versions

Keep up the great work, Stephane

I totally agree with your suggestion Coyote! Everybody likes to use stable software rather than over-featured buggy software. It would be nice if we could give you some time to iron things out, finish the requests that are pending and maybe optimize a bit.
MediaCar has about all the features it should have for basic use (when the to-do list is finished i mean ).
Please take your time to perfect things along the way, I know the feeling of having to leave a project messy and unfinished, and I know I hate it.

For me I'll hold on to the current release, look out for the new features already underway, and be patient for the finished version of that. It would indeed be great if we could help you iron out the bugs now and then, so we'll try our best to help you out here!

                      Thanks for your efforts!

yep you're right coyote. I've waited for media engine 2.0 for about three months, so what are a couple of weeks?

                          Keep up the good work!

To me the current funtions are perfect. It will be best to put the current version in stable/bug free then add new one in.
No matter how many functions are there or how fancy does it look, if it doesn't work, it's USELESS.
No I am not complain or disrespect Coyote's works. I am talking on the comsumer point of view. I rather have 1 or 2 things that work rather than 10 things that doesn't works.
So far at V1.84 I am happy with it. There are some bugs but I can live with those.
I have some problem with playing DVD, Divx, Mpeg but that is just because of my setsup.
