  • Animated Icons

Now, before I get flamed I am just wondering about this as I have not messed with the skins yet.

Will animated icons work within mediacar, and if so what formats are supported?

    TIA

I read that entire thread before posting here and it doesn't provide a clear answer to the question at hand. It only addresses one possible solution that doesn't seem to be feasible but beyond that there's no real exploring or the question. The thread actually went erroneously off topic by like the 5th post, which is why I posted here, hoping that this would stay on topic and we'd find a solid answer to this or work out a solution to it. I agree that one should search before posing a question, but if you don't find answers I don't feel that it's necessary to always add the disclaimer "yes, I already did a search." But again... we digress. Back to the question..

Not to mention that was regarding use with ME, not MediaCar.

Would be nice if we could get some input from Coyote

Well you never mentioned you read the previous thread before making an additional post to this thread. I understand your prespective but how is someone supposed to know you are continuing an idea from a previous, different thread without pointing it out.

So hence thats why I mentioned search.

            He asked about Media Engine.

Either way if either CarComp or Coyote can do it, more power to them. I appreciate what they have done for this community.

So everyone just chill out and grab a beer.

I'm plenty chilled... I didn't expect you to think that I read that previous thread, but I didn't expect you to assume I didn't search either. Anyway, no big deal. It's the internet, these things happen.

                short answer: no.

long answer: no, with a bunch of extra words after it.

i asked a similar question about an animated boot screen, and the response was the to do so, the software has to include a bunch of extra VB **** that would slow the program down, or something. i'm running on a slow computer, so i was satisfied without animation, if it comes at that cost.

Yea gutterslide is right. The first thing i did as a newb was ask that question in regaurds to media engine after playing with their skinmaker.

I am no VB expert but as far as i understand VB doesn't handle animated gifs well as well as other active video such as avi and so on. So the answer i got was it would slow the program down quite a bit which in my opinion is not acceptable.
