  • PC reboots using Dlink and MediaCar

OK, I've been doing some testing with the dlink, trying to improve reception etc, but when I try using it in media car, my PC reboots all the time.

    Under radiator control it's fine.

Is there some way that I have to set media car up to use the radio module.

    Anyone help.

    Further info for anyone interested.

I think it's the line in plugin within winamp thats my problem. If I uninstall the plugins and use winamp as it is with no control over the line input it works fine and doesn't crash.

What is the exact config for the plugin?

    What needs to be enabled/disabled?

      Hi,
also to me the same identical thing happens. Only if I use Mediacar 1.9b.
With Radiator everything is all right (except the receipt of the signal that I would tell rather cheap auto).
You as you think about resolving for the receipt of a good signal?

Mauri, I've actually built the Dlink into the case of the PC, I'm hoping that this will sort the noise and reception issues, testing it on my bench shows better reception with just the whip aerial.

I need to fix this in-line.dll problem, it's driving me mad

Fortunately I have Confused's radio supplement installed so I can run the radio module with radiator.

Try installing newer drivers for the DLink.... Do a search, I think it was discussed in an earlier thread about the driver issue.

Nothing to do with the drivers as far as I can tell. If I use the dlink and media car without the plugin, ie remove the plugin from winamp and run it as a line in with volume up, this works fine and the PC does not reboot.

The driver issue was to do with hibernate problems and I'm not in hibernation at all.

I have the same problems as craigyb and mauri. Someone heard something form coyote? Is there a new version coming?

I backed out winamp 5 last night and installed winamp 3, unfortunately that changes the winamp binary name to winamp3.exe and mediacar wont start.

So I went back to winamp 2.8 as thats all I had available. I configured the line in plugin and tested the radio again.

Same problem, the PC reboots after about 20 seconds of radio use.

Strangely enough, I had the same issue in MediaEngine as well. I'm going to test this on a clean install of XP and mediacar with no other things installed and see what happens.

I sure hope you figure it out. I have the same problem and all my tests confirm what you are saying - it looks like winamp dlls... So sad. I try to show off my carputer to friends and *pewwww - REBOOT*. Not cool...

Yes, I really suspect winamp now, since coyote switched to the winamp in-line.dll plugin this has been a problem for quite a few people.

And it's a shame our goal is to try and get a piece of crap hardware like the d-link to work correctly.

OK, just tested on a clean install, different PC, but same chip set (SIS). AMD, not Intel processor.

                            All works fine.

                            Installed D-link radio
                            Installed mediacar 1.90
                            Installed Mediacar 1.91b

                            Tested radio module, no crash.
