I agree that there should be some sort of Database structure in the playlist but not necessary iTunes.

      but not necessary iTunes.
Why not? Its the best. Unless there is another program that has intelligent playlists, party mix, browsing by any category, etc.

Intelligent playlists are very good. You can define things like: The 50 songs that have been played the list. Or the 100 most recently added songs..etc.

Another good point is that is the only program that plays music from the #1 internet music store.

you don't need itunes for that.. using itunes is major bloat.. a good database layout can do that for you anyway

Windows media player already supports all this. In fact, the iTunes and WMP SDKs appear remarkably similar.

Well, seeing how a LOT of people are switching to itunes. In the end it might be a good addon. Personally have never used it before, still on the 'list of things to try whenever i have nothing better to do'.

So you can make self-refreshing playlists in WMP based on any number on criteria like:

80s songs in lossless that haven been played in the last 25 days? I thought only iTunes could do that.

              Thanks!

Is that something you want to do often?

I haven't found playlists particularly useful, if you organize your music. I find the random shuffle feature about as effective as any smart playlist.

If it could do this query then you'd have me convinced:

find another song that I feel like this morning...

Would a "song not played for the past 5 months with a 5 star rating" do?

                  Cheers,

Oh man, that would be AWESOME if Itunes was integrated into MediaCar. MUCH better than winamp IMO.
