Whenever I run OpenMobile, it runs for about 5secs and shuts down. I restart the program and it runs, but will shutdown soon afterwards. I'm using Win7 64bit. Am i doing something wrong? Also, is there a Sirius plugin?

A lot of things could be going on I guess. Easiest way is to include the debug.txt and/or appcrash.txt files in username\appdata\roaming\openMobile\. Just attach it here and we'll get it all sorted out. BTW, what version of OM are you running? Latest revisions (while not perfectly stable) are located here: http://openmobile.sourceforge.net/main/trunk/
Current Worklog: TBA - '05 Rav4 (Mobo Dead).

Sorry for not providing all the required information. I was using the version posted on AutoAppMart. I just downloaded the 22 May build and will try it out and also post debug if there are issues. Also, I noted there is an XM plugin. Is there one for Sirius or does it work for both?

Went and pulled the latest build. Two issues: 1) It will not index anything but the music library in your win7 profile (i.e. C:\User\My Music). I have my files stored on a dedicated drive with two folders (i.e. D:\MyMusic and d:\MyMovies). 2) How do you use the OpenInstaller. Unless I missed it, there is not documentation and I would like to extract the plugins into the plugin directory. Or do I simply rename the ompkg files as dlls?

          About sirius/xm - I don't know the answer for that. I don't use either so apologies I can't say.

OpenInstaller isn't used on the revisions from the build farm. Just open the downloaded folder, run RunThisFirst, then run openMobile.exe. You could also try deleting everything that was in the appdata/roaming/openmobile/ folder just in case (they will be re-created upon running).

For indexing music, did you go into settings and look around. I'm unable to remember the exact area in the settings for the music path atm, but can provide that later today after work.

For plugins, the dll's are located in the skin directory, not essentially the plugin directory. I believe the files in the plugin directory are providers/classes/etc that the other plugins can use or the framework uses. Which plugins were you trying to use? The revision 677 that you downloaded should have some, but not all. Whatever plugins aren't in the default skin folder of the most recent revision haven't been updated in months so no guarantee that they work. Also, I'm not aware of where these other plugins can be downloaded already compiled, but here is the sourceforge page for the plugins: http://openmobile.svn.sourceforge.ne...nmobile/trunk/

            detlion,
Thanks for the info. I wanted to try out the exernal nav and pandora plugins. The link provided has the source (VB) files for all plugins. I'll complile and try them out.

detlion1643 is correct about the indexing. The path/setting is in one of the mediaDB plugin settings. As detlion1643 eluded to, plugins are supposed to be designed with skin/UI as one DLL and the "guts" as another. Obviously, skin DLL in the skin folder, guts in the plugin folder. An author "could" build it all into one DLL and put it, say, in the plugin folder. But then it wouldn't be properly "skinable".

Most of the "accessory" plugins for the latest framework are not yet fully re-written. I'm not sure that XM was ever completed by it's author and don't yet know if it will be. Hopefully HDRadio will be very soon.

External storage devices are supported, but the re-written plugin/DLL had an error last time I tested it, so I left it disabled. Essentially it would detect USB drives and index any media (music) stored on it.

External Nav (basically a shell to embed external apps inside OM) is one of those "accessory" plugins that is not quite re-written yet.

And most certainly, if you compile/debug/fix any of the plugins share the fixes with us and we can get them tested and included!

Hopefully Borte and/or Heezer7 will chime in (both been VERY busy lately) and further clarify things.

PS: I just noticed. The path to movies is seperate from the path for music. As it stands right now, you navigate to your movies, the DB indexes music. This may change in the near future.

                Hi,

Pandora plugin is not working at the moment. The author is not actively participating so I don't think it will be updated any time soon either.

When it comes to indexing music it will also index any folders named music located directly under the root folder of a drive if I remember correctly.

To get the most resent code you can go to the buildfarm but as already mentioned here it's the "raw" code and does not contain all plugins (only the currently up to date ones).
                Failure is not an option...
