  • Where can I find some docs?

    Hi,

Trying to give OM a whirl, but can't find any docs. The closest I came was this sticky thread:
    http://www.mp3car.com/openmobile/143...e-posting.html

    that contains links such as:
    http://openmobile.sourceforge.net/wi...sked_Questions
    http://openmobile.sourceforge.net/wi...and_Installing

However clicking on these links yields a blank page. Has the content been removed?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Here is the main web site for OM: http://openmobile.sourceforge.net/main/ which also has some documentation.
Be aware though that this documentation is somewhat obsolete for the current source but is ok for the 0.8 release.
    Failure is not an option...

If you go to that website and click "Documentation" you get a blank page....

What kind of documentation are you looking for?

I have an in-progress user manual but it is relevant to latest version (also in-progress).

I am unaware of any plugin coding documentation. But the plugin samples, and viewing other completed plugins should help.

Just looking for a getting started guide. I installed 0.8 but have no idea where to go from here. I am not developing plug-ins, I just want to use it. Is 0.8 the latest released version?

            Hi Timbo.

0.8 is quite old. But it's the most recent released version. I will try to help where I can. There is a LOT of changes coming it the re-write, so I might get mixed up from time-to-time.

The first part, if you have not discovered, should be to long-press a menu button. You should get a list of available plugins that you can assign to a button. Assign "Settings" to one of the buttons. If I recall, you can also select "Not Set" to clear a button.

Settings is where you can specify things for general operation and plugin config stuff.

Let me know how you get along from there.

The beginnings of our website are available for viewing. Please note that it is not fully up-to-date as things evolve and get tweaked. But the current state of documentation should help those playing around.

So I'm guessing the 0.5 version here: http://openmobile.sourceforge.net/ma...d=49&Itemid=55
isn't the one to be using...

Where's the main thread for OM and all its features, etc...?

                  Hi sebberry.

Are you looking for compiled code? We have posted a version that folks can play with while we're working on things here. Be sure to read the thread for any "gotchas".

We have an in-progress web site that will include a Getting Started / User Guide document. When a beta version is ready we'll finish up the document and load it up.

Thanks. No, not looking for source code. I wouldn't know where to start with it

I just wanted something to install and try. Not sure I'm going to be happy with RR, but that depends if I can figure out its skinning.

                    Cheers.
