  • Very sleek new frontend: Thepot Player

    Hi friends,

I recently found this frontend while searching and watching videos about Viliv X70 on Youtube. Thepot is Korean software but supporting English. I am testing it for a while and i think it's very sleek and usefull. It's not free but has free trial version for 60 times.

    Here is some details from website;

    Thepot Player
Thepot Player is an all-in-one, custom-fit, built to maximize usability and resolve inconveniences in mobile computing environments. Simple customization, high speed and a sleek design are just three of the many characteristics of Thepot Player that allow users to enjoy computing in desktop, mobile, and driving environments with ease. In our mission to make the most innovative product on the market, we are constantly challenging ourselves to improve the Pot Player, The most prominent theme that flowed through the research, planning, programming, and development stages for Thepot Player was usability. Balancing the Player's variety of functions and its intuitive ease of use was the crux of the problem. After extensive usability research, we included a minimum number of essential functions and adopted simple visual elements, such as album covers and screen shot icons. That intuitive visual design is Thepot Player's underlying concept of "look and use."

    Easy of Use
Thepot Player is incredibly easy to use. With our Uni-Motion Input Interface (UMI), we introduced easy-to-use technologies such as Finger Touch and Finger Flicking that enable users to understand the interface without any effort. Users can sort media files in different orders by "flicking" search results, then playing them immediately.

    Aesthetic Design
An intuitive Graphic User Interface (GUI) and cutting-edge design make Thepot Player all the more alluring. Its vivid colors and refined design provoke the senses, and make for a more immersive experience for the user. While minimizing the design components to refine the interface, we applied 3D icons for a sophisticated feel. Thepot Player dares to suggest new flavors to our users through its unique look and feel.

    Excellent find...

It would be great if it supported plugins!!!

The best of both worlds would be an RR skin on the same lines...

website and pics take longer to load than my attention span-- might need to come back later... though the price isn't too bad

The website, not surprisingly, gives zero information on the product. They show a HTC Hero running Android but will it run on the phone? Does the phone simply interact with the software or run it? Is it open source? Which operating systems does it support?

the site loaded faster now, and i have to agree-- almost too little info, but the review is a little discouraging:

no bluetooth integration yet, no virtual keyboard, and so far, doesn't look like any other skins.

also, i don't see any mention of what media player is being used-- another large point the reason being, i saw the part about ipod syncing, and i no longer trust itunes as a media player after some of my really good songs just dissapeared...since then, anything that i load into itunes, also gets backed up in about 3 other places...

Am I missing something? There's a demo to download and they talk about requirements for handsfree bluetooth.

Downloaded the demo will try on my Q1 Ultra tomorrow.

Downloaded the demo, installed on my Q1 Ultra w/Vista, app starts to load then crashes with "TpPlayer has stopped working" which debug reports as an APPCRASH.

                Oh well

Did you try "Run as administrator" and "Compatibility mode"?

It works on my Windows7 very well and i think it can work on XP too. it is not open source.

It does work on XP SP3,but i can not embeed GMPC right (windows name GarminMobilePC) neither iGo_PC (iGo8),i guess it just simply plays on top of it.
Do you know how to set it up?,if there were such a way for it.

I installed the demo on an XP machine, and I just get a splash screen that says Buy, Try, or Cancel... but the Try button is disabled. It's grayed out, clicking on it does nothing, etc. So, no demo for me.

Kinda disappointing, because I'd buy it if the bluetooth phone integration worked well.

Yes to both... I might play with it on another machine later to see if it works there.

Worked nice on a Kohjinsha SH8 tablet!
The GUI is pretty slick when compared to RR or CF.

The demo is limited in many ways. Bluetooth phone integration looks crippled (at least in demo). It keeps asking for Bluesoleil stack while I already have one installed.
