  • Add to current playlist?

    Ok so I must be having a pure stupidity moment because I've been trying to get this to work for hours now and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. For some reason when I press "add1" it adds the song to the current playlist but changes the name of the playlist to "on-the-fly" thus preventing me from saving the updated changes.

    GOAL: I'm trying to add a song from the audio_browser to the currently playing playlist.

    How about a button that saves the playlist after you've modified it?

    Look up "SAVELIST" or "ADDTOLIST" commands in RR skin commands.

      This unfortunately is the way that RR works. If you have a playlist you load called "My Music", when you ADD+ it is no longer that playlist, as you have modified it from when it was loaded, and is now "On The Fly".

      You can check out my skin (In my signature) and get some ideas on how to add a lot of custom stuff for playlists. It will allow you to replace a playlist, create a new one, rename, delete and manage playlists pretty well.

        I have the same problem when adding songs to current playlist. Can have a way to add songs to current playlist without change it's name? What I want is to add songs to current playlist.

          JUST ADD THEM... then SAVE the playlist, as the NAME it as it was...
          next time you LOAD that playlist... it will be named as u had it, and have the new songs
          -Thanks

            The problem is that the current playlist name is changed to "ON-THE-FLY Playlist" when I added the new songs. So the original playlist was not updated by the following code:

            "SETVARBYCODE;LISTNAME;PLAYLIST||SAVELIST;$playlis tpath$$LISTNAME$.m3u"

              There is no way to add a song to a named playlist and have it retain the same name. As I mentioned above a few years ago, if you have a playlist called "Favorite Songs" and you add something to it, it is no longer the "favorite songs" playlist, as you have modified it.

              You simply need to have skins and code in place to work around it. The way I did it in DFX is when you hit the "save playlist" button, it loads a screen that shows a list of all of your playlists. In that screen are buttons for "New playlist" "replace playlist", "Rename playlist" ect.

              So in the case you add a song, press save playlist, the new screen shows all your playlist, and you select "favorite songs" from the list of playlists, and click "Replace Playlist". Now the favorite songs playlist contains the original playlist, plus the songs you added.

              EDIT: There is another work around that may work for you. If you load a playlist, on the same button that you load the list from, you could add code to save that playlist name to the skin.ini as a variable, and update that variable in memory as well.Maybe name it like "LastPlaylist" or something. on your "Save Playlist" button you could then use this code:
              SAVELIST;$playlis tpath$$LastPlaylist$.m3u

              The only drawback to that, is anytime you saved a playlist with that code it would always overwrite whatever the last playlist that you loaded was.

                Thanks, I use this method, it works well.
