  • No 5.1 with MPC in RR

I have a 4.1 setup in my car, and I use AC3Filter to distribute the center channel to my left and right front speakers with an AC3/DTS signal. Works great.

When I load movies from RR (or from running MPC in the RR directory), I get 2.1 sound (fronts and sub). When I load movies from MPC in a different directory, I get full 4.1 sound. I've tried copying the mplayer.ini file from the other directory to the RR directory, but it doesn't fix the problem AND it gets overwritten. I've futzed around with the mpc.ini file, but it makes no difference.

    How do I fix this?

you want to overwrite mpc.ini -- that's the ini that overwrites mplayerc.ini when RR loads MPC. You may have to copy some lines from the original mpc.ini so MPC doesn't startup with borders/menus etc.

I use ffdshow for audio and video mp4 stuff. What I did:
      Rename mpc.ini to mplayer.ini
Open media player classic in the RR folder
Make the changes you want (right click will get you to all the menus)
I had to disable the built in aac to enable ffdshow audio
      Exit media player classic
      Rename mplayer.ini to mpc.ini
You may also need to drop the latest MPC in the RR folder
I did it this way for the reason he said above...I assumed the settings in the original mpc.ini exist to integrate with RR.

Now .mp4 from Nero recode works great (h.264/aac), less than 500MB, with chapters, looks good on a small screen in RR via MPC/ffdshow. .mp4 from Handbrake also works well....except for the chapters...but Handbrake is free.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same issue but with RideRunner. The problem is there is no mpc.ini to replace like there was in RoadRunner. I tried searching for it in case it was hidden. I even took mplayerc.ini and renamed it to mpc.ini and put it in the root of the RideRunner folder but it had no effect.

the newest versions of media player classic, store their settings in the registy
unless u enable the option store in .ini

just run mplayerc outside RR and set it up how u want it... should work
          -Thanks

Here's the main issue for all of this: when I set the player to external and tell it to use mplayerc.exe it works fine, but i get this little white hand cursor in the top left corner that sits there. I can't find any kind of setting to get rid of it. It's not THAT big of a deal, but I really would like it gone.

If i use built-in player, the little white hand in the upper left is gone, but I get only 2-ch sound.

I need to change RR's built-in player's settings. I'm assuming it's also mpc but it's not using the settings I'm choosing/changing when I run MPC directly outside of RR.

Yeah I've been sticking to the external one because of the surround. Outside of RR, mplayerc shows no white hand - I'm assuming it's a cursor but it never moves. It only shows up after the over lay appears and the video goes full screen. I haven't been able to figure out what it is. I have the desktop, taskbar, and mouse set to HIDE in the RRConfig.

I was using RoadRunner before with the same thing. I decided to upgrade to RideRunner just to freshen up and since it was still there I thought I would post about this. I've been using DFX 4.0 for both. I'm pretty sure I was getting the white hand in other skins as well.

the white hand with mpc is one of those nagging bugs in rr that has come and gone with different releases but has been around for a long time... probably because it's not a big enough problem for any of the dev's to make it a priority. the solution i use is to change the cursor in xp from the hand to a left handed arrow. this way when the cursor moves to the top left you don't see it bc it's off the screen. the only downside is when you mouse over links you get the left handed arrow instead of the hand.

Well I hope they find it eventually, but I agree it's definitely a low priority bug. However the left arrow replacement works great. Thanks!
