  • Minimize app at RR startup

Hi I am using WOWThing as winamp plugin. Everytime when RR starts winamp starts too so as WOWThing. RR will minimize winamp but not WOWThing and it sits in front of RR. I tried to use AutoIt to minimize it but failed.

    Here is the AutoIt script:

    WinWaitActive("WOWThing")
    MouseClick("right")
    Send("{DOWN}{ENTER}")

And in ExecTBL I have this line:

    "ONSKINSTART","RUN;C:\Program Files\Road Runner\minimize.exe" where minimize.exe is my AutoIt script.

When I run the AutoIt script alone it works. Steps:
    1. start WOWThing
    2. start AutoIT script (minimize.exe)
    3. Click on WOWThing.

Then WOWThing is minimized. It doen't work along with RR. Anyone have a better way of doing this? The goal is to start RR and WOWThing minimize automatically.

    Thanks

Why don't you just put a shortcut to WOWThing on the desktop and under properties of the shortcut you can select run minimized, and then put the shortcut into the startup folder and it will run minimized.

I tried to find a shortcut but couldn't find one. Used find and look in Winamp folder but couldn't find anything. Then I tried to install wowthing to another folder and there are only 3 files(as below), still no shortcut.

Is this a winamp plugin or the actual program from SRS?

Not sure how this plugin works, but how about:
            1. Closing RR.
            2. Starting winamp stand alone.
            3. When plugin starts, minimize it.
            4. Close winamp.

My thinking is that maybe the plugin might remember that it was closed w/ it last minimized and would open back to this state when starting RR...

            Just something else to try...

Still no luck, the plugin(wowthing) starts up maximized each time winamp is started even it was minimized previously (no memory of its previous state). Any other ideas?

              Thanks for the suggestions guys.

                AutoIt scripting

I think this may help you out. As Winamp is being hidden by RR, it becomes a "Child Window", so when you do a standard window search, it can't find it. Therefore you need to have tell AutoIt to look for the child window.

                Give this code a try

                Code:
                Opt("WinSearchChildren", 1)
                WinActivate("WOWThing")
                Send("{DOWN}{ENTER}")
Front End of Choice: Ride Runner (Is there anything else??? ) & Powered by the DFX5.1 Skin Available in the Mobile App Mart

I tried it but still not working. I also tried this script.

                  Code:
                  Opt("WinSearchChildren", 1)
                  WinActivate("WOWThing")
                  MouseClick("right")
                  Send("{DOWN}{ENTER}")
With this(above code in blue) I need to move the cursor when RR starts then it will be minimized. Otherwise it will not.

                  I tried this as well.

                  Code:
                  WinActivate("WOWThing")
                  MouseClick("right")
                  Send("{DOWN}{ENTER}")
What I did is I start winamp without RR and then exe the above script(in red). Nothing happened to wowthing or winamp but I get a right click at desktop. If I exe and quickly move the cursor to wowthing then it will be minimized. Its like WOWThing window is not selected. Attached is the window info for WOWThing.

Anyone can help I would email the version of WOWThing that I am using as I couldn't upload it here.

Ok, as I was going to take a 5min look at this I figured that I'd dl the plugin and get this straighten out,but...

after one second of googling, and choosing one of the first found searches, I came accross this piece of info that might want to read through reguarding WOWThing...

                      try this.

                      Code:
                      AutoItSetOption("wintitlematchmode", 4)
                      AutoItSetOption("winsearchchildren", 1)

                      ;this is using winamp 2.95
                      Winwait("classname=Winamp v1.x")
                      sleep(500)
                      $wow = WinExists ("classname=SRS_window")

                      if $wow = 1 Then
MsgBox (0, "Guess What?", "I'm Here And Will Minimize Now", 3)
                      	WinGetHandle("classname=SRS_window")
                      	WinSetState("classname=SRS_window","", @SW_MINIMIZE)
                      else
                      	MsgBox (0, "Guess What?", "!ha,ha,ha! Can't Find It", 3)
                      	EndIf
NOTE:i'm using winamp 2.95. if you use other version use autoit too see the difference.

I am using winamp 2.95 also. I get this message:

                        MsgBox (0, "Guess What?", "!ha,ha,ha! Can't Find It", 3)

Wonder why Autoit is not able to get control of WOWThing

you said that if you run the script without road runner running it does work, sounds like a timing issue.send me the plug in.
