  • Streets 07 GPS enable via skin command?

I have S&T 2007 and use the BMV2-esque skin for it in RR. The buttons make opening all the command windows (like GPS) easy. I found a thread containing AutoIt scripts for automatically enabling GPS, centering the map position, and turning on the GPS trail. Is there a way to turn all these on upon hitting the GPS button in the RR skin? Seems like a cleaner solution (and the AutoIt script isn't working for me).

i use my own script to launch streets, enable GPS, switch to larger fonts, keep map centered and create a splash screen to avoid seeing my desktop while loading,(the clipping area makes a hole in the skin)also i did some reshack work to streets to make the fonts bigger, and kill the splash screen.in my skin i can switch from ig to streets and google earth.if you want my script i'll share it.

I don't use directions (yet). Yes, I'd love that script. Do you just point a button press to an autoit exe file?

ok here it is, honestly i haven't test this yet, in my car i use to use other script, and i come up with this, you can replace the splash.jpg to match you're skin, or if you don't want it. edit the autoit script.

I'm working on creating a button script for RR that uses key commands to check all the GPS boxes. It works but I didn't think about hitting the button multiple times to open and close the GPS window. Doh! I'm going to assign the "GPS open and check the boxes" to another button I never use (like the OSK or voice commands) and keep the GPS button operation the same (open and close GPS panel).

The script is something like this: "...SENDKEY;^a||SENDKEY; ||SENDKEY;{TAB}||SENDKEY;{TAB}||SENDKEY; ||SENDKEY;{TAB}||SENDKEY; "

It opens the GPS panel, selects "start GPS", tabs to and selects "center map on location", tabs to and selects "create GPS trail". It might not be fully accurate, as I'm doing this from memory. I like this solution better than the AutoIt scripts, which don't seem to work for me anyway.

i use a script called keys

this has been designed around st and ar it does everything mentioned above and more also it will start st or ar when you hit gps button, all you have to do is change the root in rrconfig to start keys first more info here.

Thanks! That's EXACTLY what I was looking for when I started my quest. I'll give it a try.

I tried using it, and via F2 it works great. Love it. But how do I script it in RR? When I used the "SENDKEY;{F2}" when I hit the GPS button, it doesn't do anything. I think I need to use the ACTIVATE script to put the Keys program in focus... right? What's the screen name of Keys? I want it to open the GPS panel of my RR skin and then run S&T.

                        gps button

you must run keys aleast once outside of rr before running rr
i'm in the middle of makeing a help file for this, you will also find a few problems.

1:full screen func. will not work properly in rr as it uses a different window name.
2:menu button is a bit low if your skin has anything at the bottum of the screen ,easy fix.
                        3. also "hush hush you did'nt hear it from me" i can also send you the line to anwser the drive guidance warning we will not put this in as default as it goes agaisnt the liscence,pm for the line changes for the above.

                        go to rrconfig

in the gps root start with keys:

                        c:\program files\keys

window name Map - Microsoft AutoRoute
                        Streets & Trips
run keys on own not with rr go to options via clicking k icon near clock
de-activate F2 function, close programs and run rr again don't use F2 key to start keys.

i will try to answer what i can, might be worth keeping this trhead open for ST and AR issuses and keys .

have fun and good luck with the program

I ended up not using Keys, because it takes a long time to load for some reason. I discovered these sendkey commands to activate the GPS panel boxes:

                          Start GPS tracking: %TGS
                          Arrange Map View: %TGM
                          Create GPS Trail: %TGG

It's %T to open the Tools menu, G to open the GPS submenu, and then the underlined letter in the GPS submenu.

So for example, I replace the OSK button script with the following:
                          (postion)... "ACTIVATE;Microsoft Streets & Trips||SENDKEY;%TGS||SENDKEY;%TGM||SENDKEY;%TGG"," Activate GPS"

Now if I could just figure out how to get it to start up in Terrain view... for some reason saving the map in that view does nothing.
