  • Ipod Classic Problem

So I have used a buddies Ipod Video gen 5 or 5.5 with no problems. I tested out RR using his before I went and bought one of my own to see if I liked how it worked, and loved it.

Now I hook in my ipod classic and all of the Ipod options come up in the library browser but when I click on artist, album, genre or playlist the next directory is empty.

I went into winamp to make sure that i could play the songs off the ipod through it and see if there is any problem seeing the song/album names, and it all worked perfectly.

So I after I play a few songs I close winamp. When I start rr back up there are a whole bunch of wierd filenames on my playlist cue, not even words just letter combinations. I play one and it is my Ipod list, all of my songs. But I cannot tell which is which of course b/c they are coming up w/ a name like azxcidk and zckkdhsi. I tried to go back into access my ipod lists and still empty. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it??

The way it works is that RR should read the Tag info from the iPod and load them onto the playlist so you'd not see those file names.. the weird filenames you're seeing are courtesy of Apple renaming all of the files into the ipod (probably in an attempt of having people copying songs fro the device to the PC). If you can't see/load the files from the ipod onto RR, there's a possibility they may have changed their library format and that it'd require code update in order for it to work like in older ipods. Best test is to try your buddy's ipod on your carpc, and try your ipod in his carpc (if he has one). That would define if the problem is RR or the Ipod

I can confirm this happens with an old (although recently reformatted/restored to FAT32 format) 3G Ipod as well.

I've improved support for newer ITUNES versions -- which seem to mix up the data a little more in the ipod.

Waiting confirmation if it works now.

I simply replied it -- I think f'in Gmail doesn't accept zip files.

my work email blocked the email as well...

do you think you could rapidshare the file for me. I am thinking this is going to be the easiest way for me to get the file. I have never had a problem w/ gmail and zip files but there is always the first time for anything.

Sorry this is such a pain...
