  • Weather: How do I set Dutch locations?

    How do I set up RR so that it shows Dutch City's in it's weather skin?
    Can't find it in the help files or on the forum.
    I set it up in the RRconfig as Apeldoorn, Gelderland but it doesn't give me the info I need. it shows other places, like New York but I don't really care for them.

    I found a thread that similar in nature:
    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/road...-question.html

    But basically you want to find an appropriate city from Weather.com and use that as the location.

        I found it odd that the City/Town you were looking for weather info on refuses to come up on Weather.com but I can clearly see it on their Radar map.

          At what map can you see Apeldoorn, cause I've been browsing the site but can't find a map that shows it.

          Okay, I found it to at their interactive map. It even show's city's that are closer to my home, but weather.com only has information about the weather in Amsterdam and Hoek van Holland.

            What I would like to do is setting the weather plugin up so that it picks it information from an other (Dutch) website. Unfortunately I can't figure out where the plugin retrieves its information from and I can't find out who wrote it to ask if it's okay if I do such a thing

              I managed to implement other radar and satelite images from dutch sites, also fixed the google earth application so that it starts to zoom in on Holland in stead of America.

              Thanks for the maps Dennis Pet

                can you give us (the dutch and probably others) a small "how to" for bot changes?

                  Okay, here goes
                  This works for Digital FX 3.0 and I guess it works for most scripts out there.

                  To change the satellite and radar maps you go to your road runner map /skins/[skin map]/weather/

                  then you open the weather.ini in notepad.

                  change the lines in there for this

                  [SectionRadar]
                  RadarURL="http://www.buienradar.nl/images.aspx?jaar=-3&bliksem=0&voor=&soort=loop1uur1x1&tijdid=20080 31 51900"
                  RadarImage="Radar.gif"

                  [SectionSatellite]
                  SatelliteURL="http://www.sat24.com/images.php?country=nl&sat=&1205688258156"
                  SatelliteImage="Satellite.gif"

                  [SectionTemperature]
                  TemperatureURL="http://images.intellicast.com/WeatherImg/CurrentConditions/europ.jpg"
                  TemperatureImage="Temperature.jpg"

                  The maps aren't so visually tempting as the maps standardly used but they do the job and are the best I found for this purpose. Do mind that the temperature maps reads fahrenheits not celcius.

                  Please post if you've found better looking maps.

                  Note that the files have to be jpg or gif in order to work. Most dutch or european sites use flash to make their weathermaps, I haven't found a way to make this work yet.

                  As for the google live earth map you can change the settings in your weather.interactive.skin Again, this is proven to work in digital fx, I can't say if it works for other scripts.

                  Look for this line

                  F,-14,-15,839,541,"WeatherMap.swf?&lat=26.61&long=-80.12&viewPortWidth=830&viewPortHeight=550&initial WeatherLayerType=radar&initialZoomLevel=8&wxAnimat eOnStart=true"

                  and change the lattitude and longitude. You can obviously look up your parameters in your gps software. In this example the parameters are set on Gelderland.
                  As you can see you can also adjust the amount of zoom live earth applies on opening.

                  Hope you guys can use this stuff.

                  I sure most of you now, but I will say this for the people that just started using RR in combination with a script like dfx.
                  You can find a list of city's that you can use to read data from:
                  http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Def...ry=Netherlands
                  In the road runner script there are multiple foreign city's setup. Most times Las vegas is one of them. Simply press one of the citybutton's for a couple of seconds and a new screen will pop up in which you can enter the city of your choice.
                  Like Amsterdam, Netherlands. Or Bludenz, Austria if you want to keep track of the snow conditions at your ski holiday

                  Good luck
