  • Can I Play A DVD Ripped File ?

hi, i was trying to play a ripped dvd file of (Alice In Chains concert) in rr with dfx 3 skin . the problem is when i click on file .IFO Nothing happens.i even click on each file ,still nothing. i'm using internal player. what could i be doing wrong also i use Media Portal for home use on my 52", and all i had to do was make a folder and name it VIDEO_TS with all files from dvd rip in it IFOs,VOBs etc. so i click on folder and it played.i didn't have to decode files to xvid or avi or anything else. i tried the same thing in rr w/dfx3 and nothing????...........please help . Thanks.

You need to install a software DVD decoder to play VOB's. Istall powerDVD or WinDVD and then i think you will have to play them with Media Player Clasic by disabling built in video.

Save yourself some trouble - convert them to DIVX.

TREETOP777- Did that done that , i have both powerdvd and windvd on carpc . i want to use built in player.and also i been trying some decoders autogk, vidomi etc.just to name a few. i'm not a stranger to decoders.and who wants to wait 4-5+ hours to decode a concert, movie etc( I HAVE ALOT OF VIDEO,CONCERT FILES - OVER 70 ) So this is not a option also i like the quality better in it's vobs etc.i have plenty of storage so i'm not worried about that.to just click on a file to play would just be great like MEDIA PORTAL.you know, just like a jukebox like for cds without messing with the disks .hey mabe DFX 3+ Could have this option in it's new release .there talking about putting a vir.cd changer.why not a vir.dvd changer??? i hope so .this would be great in the next version of DFX. Thanks Again..........

RR uses media player classic as default player
in order to make MPC play .vob (and .ifo) files, install a codec pack

me, myself, use the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack)
it makes any player in your system play almost any format
this solution was tested today in my htpc (where i use MPC) and works
the only one i found missing was a .rm and .rmvb codec and that was solved with the Real Alternative codec

Hi will_santana, i been using K-Lite codac pack, that should not differ. should it ? i click on a main ifo (video_ts) file and nothing.i play them no problem in powerdvd and windvd inside and outside of rr. it just won't play on internal player which uses MPC. I'M STOMPED. it seems that everyone here is using k-lite or separate ffdshow codac. i don't want to go through decoding 70+ concert flicks in xvid. Thanks bud for your help in this......

            stomped huh??
            Try this:
            http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arch..._bup_files.cfm

using ffdshow here, but it should work without a codec add-in anyway for MPC.

The built-in player does NOT use MPC.

but for dvd playing RR don't use MPC?
any way, I always prefer MPC as my default player

try unstalling the K-lite and install CCCP
open MPC or WMP OUTSIDE rr
if the ifo files play as nice as on my computers, i sereiously doubt it wont play inside RR or even with the built in player

I forgot some people use the built in player for DVD...not sure why that is

" but for dvd playing RR don't use MPC?"
                  It's an option in rr.ini
