  • Weather based on GPS position

    I just installed the weather version and got it to work. Its a nice option, but was wondering if it were possible for RR to use GPS coordinates to show local weather? I know the location is encoded in the cfg file, but is there a way around this?
    Thanks,

    Are you talking about the live screen only? The weather and forecast page does use GPS coordinates to give local weather. As for the live page, I just center it on my home and set zoom level to cover most places I drive.

    If you can't get the local weather on the opening page, check this in the rr.ini file (someone correct me if I am wrong)...

    [Weather]
    cityweather=Austin, Tx
    weatherunits=USA
    weatherdegress=
    localdatacaptureinterval=1
    My opinion is my own.

        localdatacaptureinterval is the interval in which RR reads your gps coordinates into zips.dat to determine your current location. The options are 1,2,5,10,15,30 and correspond to minutes. If you have this option enabled in RR.ini the weather will always be based on your current location unless you run the HOMEWEATHER command which takes the weather from your rr.ini declared location
