  • Foobar2000 support?

I could have sworn that RoadRunner supported Foobar2000 a while back. Was this ever the case?

My searching only reveled a few thread where people said they would like to see it, but that's about it.

    Am I just imagining this?

The short answer (since I can't find the post) is it is not supported. Guino tried it at one point and it had issues.

Back when I checked into it, foobar had an incredibly messy and buggy SDK (based on C++ code only) -- on a quick look, they probably just got it more stable, but still the same messy c++ loose functions... Something like this: http://ruby-fb2k.rubyforge.org/ would be nice but this code is so old now that I doubt it still works. In any case, it's very well possible to make a foobar2000 player for RR, it just takes the time making the DLL to interface all the functions into the C++ functions.

Guino, I seem to remember you saying that Foobar loaded playlists really slow in RR.

I recall that while testing the interface, never really wrote any code for it... I think even iTunes would be a faster player.

yeah - unfortunately, Foobar is just the best option as far as quality reproduction. Everything else fails in comparison.

IF I end up going with a card that supports ASIO natively, then WinAmp is an option. I just can't run the SRC plug-in along with the kernal streaming plug-in at the same time in WinAmp.

So I'll just start looking for a touch screen friendly skin for Foobar 2000 for judging purposes.

What about using Console so you can have any ASIO plugins you want?
