  • Is there a simple way to add programs to RR?

I've been searching around and read nearly all of the FAQ's and have yet to find an easy way to add a program/menu to Roadrunner. What I am basically looking for is a way to simple link an .exe to the skin and just make a button for it. Everything I have found says things like "Insert <werg345we4> to (whatever).ini then reg this and that.

Perhaps I'm using the wrong program, becuase I understand that it is open source and always an ongoing project which I appreciate, however I feel at the moment unless I have some sort of computer science degree that it is difficult to add anything to is. Could anyone guide me in the correct direction?

    Okay...make a button for it.

Edit the graphic file and use skin editor to put the following code in the corresponding skin file in the button area:

    B,x,y,w,h,"RUN;<insert path to .exe here>",""

with the instructions from that post, and even the one it links to at http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/rr-f...cation-rr.html I still don't think its very clear.

In the first one, I got lost at nearly the first step where I was told to copy those files. But I am unaware of where to find them. I looked in my default skin directory. Also I couldn't find any code buttons to replace in my skin ini, and I use LSX void.

Are thee any skins which come with traffic cams and gas prices pre-installed?

          Assuming you used the installer:
1-Download a skin that has the "Applications" screen, for instance Brush Metal V2 (http://files.joat.co.nz/roadrunner/) -- the default Carwings skin DOES NOT have an applications screen.
2-Look at the main RR folder -- you'll see a "LAUNCH" folder, now inside it there's a folder for each application setup, open one of the example folders like CALC and see what's in there, CALC.JPG and CALC.INI -- this is the perfect example.
3-Make a new folder (in the same place where the CALC folder is) named MYAPP, go into the MYAPP folder you made, create a new MYAPP.INI file (using any text editor), add two lines to it: PATH=C:\BLABLA\MYAPP.EXE and WindowSearchString=MYAPP (Title of the window to embed -- take the CALC.INI file AS AN EXAMPLE.

When you go into the application screen inside RR it will show the MYAPP option and allow you to run it.

For help with Window title, and other forms of embedding application (i.e. to other skins) I recommend you to read the FAQs (ALL of them -- but AT THE LEAST the ones about embedding applications).

              Guino,

Worked like a charm Now why couldn't it be that simple in the first place?
I'll try embedding it a bit later. Thank you once again.

you dont, till you create a launch skin, just look at the one in carwings, it demos, notepad and calculator

or if it does have the skin, you can create the folder
which should technicaly already be there, in rr data profile folder
                  like on my machine: C:\Users\mitchjs\Documents\RideRunner\Launch
                  -Thanks

its not ment to be with skin, but could be, there is a setting...

                      in rr.ini

                      LaunchPath=

when set to nothing, it defaults to the profile location... for sure not suposed to be in PROGRAM FILES folder... thats not for user data
                      -Thanks
