  • newbie needs help - RideRunner nag screen

    Hi all
    I am a "techie" but I'm having tons of issues with installing RideRunner on my UMPC which is running XP tablet edition.

    I downloaded the installer and update today, followed all instructions and i still am getting the nag screen as on this thread:
    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/road...w-exiting.html

    Please help with this!

    Also a question about the skins....my UMPC has a 800x480 screen. The default skin with RideRunner is too big. Are there skins for 800x480 or will I have to make my own. Also, how easy is it to make your own?

    Thanks!

    The nag screen is all down to the date.

    make sure your date is correct. Also make sure you are not updating the date via the GPS.

    as for the skins, all skins can be changed to run 800x480 by editing the general.ini file in the skins an changing

    change

    Code:
    OriginalWidth=800
    OriginalHeight=600
    ShowWidth=800
    ShowHeight=600

    to

    Code:
    OriginalWidth=800
    OriginalHeight=600
    ShowWidth=800
    ShowHeight=480

      Thanks enforcer.
      I am not updating via gps. I checked the config for this, it is not checked.
      Also, my date is fine. Saturday Feb 21 2009 3:10 pm EST.

      Any other ideas?

            you know, you dont mention what version you're running, or trying to run...

            an 11/2008 version would be out of date... and need to update urself to 2/2009 version!
            -Thanks

              brandensin,
              I'm running an Asus R2H, not the Samsung Q1 - but very similar. Thanks for the links to those skins, I'll check em out. But at this point, with the system not working so well, finding a skin is last on my list at the moment.

              Mitchjs,
              I'm on the 2/2009 version. Like I said earlier, I downloaded this Saturday afternoon, the 22nd. I've followed all the update information and have loaded that as well. Here are the weird things I'm seeing.....

              1) the nag screen.
              2) right after the nag screen I am getting a compatibility error - Roadrunner.exe compatibility.exe (I could post the log to this if need be)
              3) after those two screens go away, I am seeing winamp start even though I have hid it via the option on the Music-Page 1 settings.

              I'm stumped on this.
              Thanks!

                what OS are you running? I know vista can run RR, but i've seen people with all kind of issue with it.. Just run XP and save you a headache... But if you insist running it on Vista, then.... solustions are out there... Search for vista... meanwhile, you can turn debug on in rrconfig and post debug.txt in riderunner directory... People will analyze it and nail the problem

                            Thanks mitchjs, yes I did and I have replied to you via email.
                            For those wondering, deletion of the RoadRunner.exe file solved #2.
                            As for Winamp, this is on other threads, but start winamp by itself, then go to the taskbar and right click on the winamp entry there. Choose Winamp -> and uncheck all the items....main window...playlist....etc. Then close Winamp. It should start up "hidden" now.
                            Thanks all for the help!!!!!!!!!!
