  • Retrieving Info From External App To RideRunner

    hi all

im wondering if there is a way of retrieving info from an external program to rr
the app is m4-atx configuration program

    its a simple vb app
i want to get the voltages textboxes into rr labels
i can get their class id's , texts and everything with autoit window info
so im guessing there must be a way for it to be read by rr

    is it possible?

    thanks in advance ,
    madboy

If you can read it somehow (i.e. autoit), then it is definitely possible to make a (extension) plugin to display the info in RR. If you have the source code for the vb6 application then it would make it a lot easier, but if you already know autoit and can read the values from the app, you just need to make a script that reads the values say every second and sends them to RR using the sample scripts attached.

      thanks guino ,
ill try to request the source from the m4 guys but its unlikely they will give it away
i don't know autoit that much hehe
and its been a while since ive codded with vb :\
how do i read the values from within autoit? i went over their documentation and i can see only how to control the "controls" , the question is how to retrieve their "text" not write to it

first ill try to contact m4 guys and lets see what happens
i hope that if ill get the source someone will be able to do this

      thanks again

i believe when the m4 first came out the released an sdk which allowed for plugin type creation. I remember i was gonna make a RR extension plugin for the m4.. but the reliability issues at the time changed that plan lol

            You can embed their application...

After messing around with it, I was able to find out the window title.

            its "M4AtxTitle"

            "LOAD;m4.SKIN;M4AtxTitle;c:\Program Files\Mini-Box.Com\M4ATX\M4AtxTray.exe;M4AtxTitle",

As a test I created a skin file called m4.skin, which embeds the tray application.

I have also created a skin file which uses larger text and a black bakground.

Just unzip these two files into the the c:\Program Files\Mini-Box.Com\M4ATX\ directory.

            Choose the skin "Big(custommx3)"

            I have attached a screenshot.

Also you can edit the mbs file with notepad and change colors. You can also change the BMP to whatever you like. I know its not a plugin, but at leasts it will embed.
