  • RR not displaying ID3 from playlist load

    I seem to be having trouble getting RR to display ID3 tags (and album art) in the audioplayer screen when I load a M3U playlist. It only displays what is to the right of the rightmost "dash" of the filename in the TAGARTIST field.

    For example, my M3U file looks like this:
    Code:
    #EXTM3U
    #EXTINF:236,Avant - When It Hurts
    ..\new\04-avant-when_it_hurts.mp3
    #EXTINF:319,Eminem - My Mom
    ..\new\03 My Mom.mp3
    #EXTINF:243,Flo Rida (feat. Ne-Yo) - Be On You
    ..\new\07 Flo Rida - Be On You [Feat. Ne-Yo].mp3
    When I load it using Load List button (SELECT command... i think), I get this:

    but if I exit RR and launch it again, the ID3 displays correctly:

    This only happens for loading music via playlists. When I go through the Library using the "Add Folder" command, everything's fine.

    I am using the latest RR (08/2009) with Winamp 5.13. I have tried both eLite and DigitalFX and the problem exists with both skins, so I don't think it's a skin problem. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

    Check your settings in RRConfig under Music/Page 1. You can set what you want to display like: %artist% - %title%.

    Try making the settings on Music/page 1 in the config to:

    Prefer ID3V2 tags
    Show ID3 Playlists
    Show ID3 Browse

    and set both text boxes to:
    %artist% - %title%

    If they are set that way already, then you may want to investigate the actual tags in the MP3's further.

      I have those settings checked in RRConfig, and the ID3 tags display correctly in the Playlist and Browser screens, it's just in the actual player that the tags don't show up correctly.

      Here's the music portion ofmy rr.ini file:
      Code:
      [Music]
      musicpath=E:\Sorted\
      playlistpath=E:\~Playlists\
      useid3=2
      showid3playlist=true
      showid3browse=true
      lazytag=false
      singleclickaudio=false
      noformat=true
      listnumbers=true
      listfollowssong=true
      id3listformat=%artist% - %title%
      id3browseformat=%artist% - %title%
      titlesafter=-
      coverfile=*.jpg
      albumart=*.txt
      fadeimages=true
      audiofiles=.m3u,.mp3
      visuname=MilkDrop
      scrollmode=1
      circularlist=true
      groupnumbers=false
      resumemusic=2
      audiorepeat=last
      audioshuffle=last
      transparentvisu=last
      opacityvisu=40

          Hmmm, OK, I changed "titlesafter" so that it's blank, but that still doesn't really solve my problem... now it's showing the entire filename in the Artist field of the audioplayer. I'm trying to figure out why the ID3 tags aren't being shown when I load from a M3U playlist. The Playlist and Library screens show the ID3 tags correctly, just the Audioplayer screen that doesn't.

          RR only uses "titlesafter=" if it doesn't have ID3 information, right? All my music files are correctly tagged with ID3v2.

          If I exit out of RR, or if I go into HD Radio and come back to the Audioplayer screen, the ID3 tags show correctly. Any ideas? =)

            open audio_player.skin in elite and add this line:

            S00,800,000,001,600,230,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,190,025,025,255,255,255,FALSE,015,"Arial"

            and see if that helps.

              Ah.. the imformis hidden playlist...if in fact that does fix it. I've looked at the code and still don't understand Y adding a hidden PL to screens seems to fix these types of issues...

                the display of the playlist is what "triggers" RR to read the tags.. if a file isn't displayed there's no need to waste time reading the tag. The hidden playlist makes RR think the tag needs to be displayed and because of that RR will then read the tag. However the CURRENT track/song will always have the tag loaded even without any playlists.

                  Maybe create a internal flag that if when the screen is loaded and contains any of the tagxxx labels, it would then update as if you added that hidden pl, which I have always thought was a silly workaround and inefficient use of a control! And to most, is something that is always missed and then creates either threads like this one to re answer a x10 already asked Q OR waste the users time to have to search for how to fix it. That is my thoughts & opinion on it....

                    thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, adding that line to the audio_player.skin doesn't fix the problem.

                    I'm sorry if this has been asked elsewhere - I've tried searching for this problem before posting ("m3u" doesn't give many results but "playlist" gives far too many).

                    Any other ideas? I'm willing to test out any and all suggestions. Thanks, and much appreciated!

                      did you try using the LOALIST command?

                        The LOADLIST command works but doesn't it requires an absolute path to the m3u file?
                        Code:
                        "LOADLIST;D:\Music\~Playlists\test.m3u;my playlist"
                        Is there a way to get it to load the currently selected playlist file in the load_playlist skin?

                            Hmm, "SELECT" is the command being used by the skins, and using it to load a playlist doesn't load the ID3 tags.

                            Does RR handle loading a playlist with SELECT differently from using LOADLIST? Is anyone else having this problem?

                              If you highlight the M3U file and hit "SELECT" then it should be exactly the same as LOADLIST. If you go INTO the playlist (using "BROWSE") then hit "SELECT" it will NOT be the same thing.
