  • Some Questions Regarding Embedding External Apps

    Hi

Im using the embedding thing quite alot and I have some stuff I was wondering if possible
1.To avoid flashing when clicking on buttons ( window focus issue ) I use clipping , However when I use "discardable" and "close" commands to kill the program when exiting the skin I get a couple of seconds of my desktop in the clipping area

Is there any way of clipping the area without actually clipping the entire rr? so it will leave the static background intact?
Or maybe a way to get back to the previous skin and then kill the app ( I tought of using an external kill but I don't really like workarounds like that ) without showing the desktop in the process?

2.I'm embedding some apps that are movable by draging the window itself ( not just the title ) like dscaler
So if I accidently drag my finger it moves the embedded app for a second and then move it back to the embedded area

Is it possible to lock the app at its place or is it really up to the app i embed?

3.Is there anyway to avoid clipping? It seems so low-tech..

    Thanks In Advance ,
    Madboy

Because the discard scrn opt, you shouldn't need the close cmd, when it discards the screen when leaving it, it should also kill the embeded app that was loaded into that scrn

This sounds like you aren't using the correct window title to embed the app with as RR will check and reposition the embedded app on every screen update if needed. ~1/sec

"Low-tech", yes. But for some apps is the only way to be able to use it within RR.

I don't think it does then
when i embed sygic i have 2 buttons which is "back" and "close"
"back" leaves sygic open while "close" doesn't
      and i use discardable

      :/
isn't there a way to clip it but leave the background?
from my understanding the whole thing happens when the rr and the embedded app are fighting each other for focus right?
can't u just set the clipped area as static and not focus on it? like splicing the app to 2 apps and leave one un-focused?

I did say "should" as I wasn't 100% sure and didn't check the code to see exactly what occurs.

There is no way to "lock" the window into a position and still use it.

Only other thing you could try is to set RR's window NOT on top and set the apps window on top. See the skin commands for the exact cmd name and usage. Look for 'ontop'

          OK thanks man
can you set the close command to first go back to the last skin and then kill the app at the background at the next rr release?
i really want to avoid the couple of seconds which shows my desktop when i press close
