  • Garmin 20x with gauge skin

So I am really new to this. I am trying to get my garmin gps to work with the gauges in the dfx 4. I got the garmin skin working. Xport seems that it is used generally. But it doesn't seem to work with the gps... Any ideas?

If you got the bundle, it won't work that way. The software only sees the 20x if it hasn't been split by xport or garmin spanner. You need to have purchased the software without the GPS receiver to do it the way you're thinking of.

Edit: Ops, forgot to add, it'll work but you will either have gauges or GPS. Not both at the same. I tried this as well when I first got it.

You're going to have to use xport or garmin spanner to create the com port, and use that port number in the DFX4 config.

Hence the original response from the second post. The Garmin software needs to see the 20x directly without any split. Reading the software page, the Garmin Spanner is supposed to split the GPS18 software, and may work with other products, but Windows Vista is not supported.

One of the reasons for the problems with the 20x is it is not just a GPS device, it is also a "key fob" that unlocks the software. There is a separate version of Garmin made to work with any GPS puck, In that case though, registration is required for the software.

I've successfully split the 20x with xport as well as spanner. I did a lot of monkeying around with it to get it to work, but it wasn't hard by any means. I used it with the splitter for a day or two and found I never used it and always wanted the GPS, so I've stopped splitting it since.
