  • Using CarTFT Radio in RR - Native Support?

    Hey Guys,
after spending the last few hours with searching this forum, other forums and bothering google, i'm at the end of my knowledge.
I installed my CarPC this summer and since then, mostly everything was fine. Except for the Radio. The ADS Tech Radio hat bad reception, and now, it even fails to start when it's cold.
So i decided to buy a new, expensive radio from cartft.com.
I checked the settings of RR before i bought it. The CarTFT Radio is listed there.
Today i received a package with the radio in it, installed it to COM3, hooked the plug to "line in", started RR Config, and set Radio to the known settings.
But now, when i start the Radio modul in RR, it says "Radio not Configured" (Attached Pic)
I tested it on several machines with XP and Win7, always the same message.
Strangly, under \Program Files\Riderunner\RadioModules\ i don't see any CarTFT Radio. I see silabs, d-link, etc but no CarTFT Radio. Are the files missing? The Radio works perfectly with radiator. but i can't see how to integrate Radiator into RR...
    Please help me.

Greetings and please excuse my bad english.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Mitch told me that CarTFT stopped the development of radio a year/s ago, so the plugin also remained unfinished. Probably he corrects me if I'm wrong.

Currently the best radio solution is HD Radio (Directed DMHD1000 and Visteon HDZ300) even analog FM. Second best is Silabs with serious aerial/antenna modification.

Hi and thanks for the answer.
Could you be a bit more precise?
I can select the HQCT option in RR Config... or start it manualy from the folder.
But neither one gives out sound.
Does the HQCT Option has anything to do with the Radiator?

What antenna modification would that be? You have a link to a howto?

According to CarTFT.com the Radio works with RR, Radiator and Centrafuse. Maybe i should give it back...

        anyone else know anything?

        Thx

i do have a radio module for CarTFT's tuner... there is an issue with their driver code, i pointed it out to them, and they didnt do ANYTHING about it... so i dropped it
one reason is NO one asked for it!

you could try the radio module, i dont know if i kept it up to date...id have to look
the carTFT tuner, is just a tuner thats really used for TMC data made by
GNS GmbH, then the cartft people built a wrapper on the GNS (gpstmc.dll) to expose FM tuner commands(this is where im sure the problem is) then i talk to that .dll
          from my dll

the issue i had i think if i remember was it would seek on a station but report wrong freq
          ie in USA

          id seek to say 94.1
          and it would say 94.0
          OR
          94.2

becuase it was inconsitent i need them to fix it
          that was a year ago!
          -Thanks

            Hello Mitch,

            thank you for your answer.
I think i'm going to send it back to them and get a refund.
I'll try again with the Silabs/ADS Tech radio... or is there a better one for FM and perfect RR integration?

            Thanks again.

            Greetings =)
