I think one key thing to add to your list, is the ability to use it to control voice recognition. You could hook a momentary switch to it, and have it trigger RR to listen for commands when using the voice recognition plugin by jebus.

Thanks, that's very cool. The voice control thing is a good idea, although I personally have it solved already.

Could it be used to control like RGB leds, like blue for speed trap, red for incoming calls, green for incoming phone calls, bright white when doors open, etc.? (say you have a led strip in your instrument cluster, wherever - but which can change colors according to I don't know what controls those rgb things, resistance, pulses?).

On second thought, I think the above would work best if it could work w/o the computer being on though...

As it is right now, you could hook a couple of different color LED strips to different relays. Turn on the one you want for the color you want ect. Talking to Mitch, me mentioned you could also have say a red and a blue hooked to different relays, and turning on both would give off purple light.

Of course that is just a temporary solution.... Until.... say..... ummmm.... another "Gadget" comes along?

          I'm just saying.....

Awesome gadget! Ill be purchasing one. I have been waiting for a simple USB controlled relay bank for some time now. The real purpose is to control external circuits from touchscreen buttons. (Example, ground trigger your headlight switch from RR, or positive trigger your amplifier from RR, or lock unlock your doors from RR)

It can be used to control even higher draw circuits if external relays are added.

I suppose you could use it to light up some LED's or integrate it into voice control contraption, but IMO these ideas are really missing the point of the device. This is my opinion though and everyone will have a different use.

For S & G's I may have to add a "start / stop" button to RR to fire up and shut down my engine

Got to find a way to use it in my up coming Sienna.

Still have the HD radio cable in the package unopen from 2-3 years ago.

same here, i have a hd radio cable now for almost 2 years. i simply dont have time to install the stuff. it sucks, but ill get time in a few months i think...

how does this io module different from a fusion brain? it seems like a simpler solution anyway

I think that for simplier tasks that you are talking about, this might be better/easier for solution for them.

It differs in the fact that the relays are built into this device. Just hook up the wires to something you want switched, and it is under software control. Also the fact that no drivers and special software are needed to configure it.
