  • TRACKNAME doesn't appear unless loaded in Audio_player.skin first

This problem seems random and I cannot always repeat it. I have a label using "TRACKNAME" on my main overview skin (menu.skin) and when RR launches and starts playing a song, the trackname will not appear in this label until I go over to my audio_player.skin. Then if I go back to my menu.skin, its there and usually continues to work OK. I've even played with adding audio_player.skin under the "preloaded" and "keep loaded" in RRconfig, but it doesn't help.

and btw, if you start RR, and there is NO active source to resume to, it wont show anything...

course if you ask me, you should always resume...

        rr.ini

        resumemusic=1

        at the very least

but if there is nothing to resume to, ie no resume.ini, rr will start idle with NO source active... thus there cant be any trackname!

I'm having something similar to the above problems.
          Windows 7 64Bit SP1
          RR 2/5/2012, DFX 5.1.1
I use Winamp 5.623, ID3V2, my files are named: (Album is AC/DC, Back In Black, Folder structure is D:\Music\AC-DC\Back In Black)

          01 Hells Bells.mp3
          02 Shoot To Thrill.mp3
03 What Do You Do for Money Honey.mp3
          04 Givin the Dog a Bone.mp3
05 Let Me Put My Love into You.mp3
          06 Back in Black.mp3
07 You Shook Me All Night Long.mp3
          08 Have a Drink on Me.mp3
          09 Shake a Leg.mp3
          10 Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution.mp3

It seems that the on the audio_player.skin the info for the Artist, Album, Song, Year, and Genre Does not load until I get to track 09 Shake a Leg, and even then, only the Song Field loads, and it says the complete filename (09 Shake a Leg), none of the other fields populate. If I use the Skintool 2.1.5 and try to get info such as "TAGTITLE", the track 01-08 show "< Contains No Data >". When I get to track 09, then "TAGTITLE" will be populated with "09 Shake a Leg". Pressing "NEXT" goes to "10 Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution". The view when I press the "Playlists" button shows all the tracks in the proper order, exactly as in the structure above, except for the .mp3 is not on the end.

This behavior is consistent for almost every playlist I load. There is one folder (80's) that does not have numbered tracks, the songs are in alphabetical order. On that playlist the first 8 songs show nothing, song 9 shows just the title, song 10 and up show the full gamut, Artist, Album, Song, Year, and Genre.

          Anybody got any ideas?

Yeah, it should be the most updated, I just downloaded everything (RR, DFX, Winamp), last saturday. I'll try it in Carwings, of course. I did plug in my HDRadio yesterday with your cable and drivers...it worked AWESOME.

It's just that the behavior is so radically different in whether it has track numbers stored in the file name or not, but not showing any data until I get the the 9th track in the playlist...weird. I'll try Carwings either tonight or tomorrow.

                Thanks Mitch, you're my hero....

OK, if I set it to exactly your settings, it works perfectly. If I deviate at all from your suggested settings, it starts to act up. The only thing I don't care for when I use your settings is that in the playlist browser, it only shows me the name of the album. I have my playlists done by albums. So my playlist "Aerosmith - Just Push Play.3mu", instead of seeing "Aerosmith - Just Push Play", All I see is "Just Push Play". If I remove the "-", then the playlists look how I want, and so far things look to be behaving. So really the only change I made was to check the "Show ID3 Playlist" and "Show ID3 Browse", it appears to be behaving now.

Set the titleafter setting above to nothing, that is your issue with the playlist its only grabbing the part after the "-" in the filename.

i have all my music using tags, and i use medialists, so.. titlesafter isnt a factor
its good for music that doesnt have tags, and you have a proper filename
course having music with no tags, says to me, get tags!

No, all my music has tags. I've used Windows Media Player to rip all my CD's and it has populated all the tags. I then use MP3Tag to get a better cover art then the one that WMP gets, and I embed it in each song. Yes, deleting the "-" in the bottom field has allowed my playlists to appear properly (Artist - Album). So far, by checking the other two boxes, everything else is behaving. As I'm just setting up this new computer, I have not added any songs to the "Disk Changers" yet, but I'm sure I will. I've decided to remove my head unit completely. I had a Sony unit with a 10CD changer that played .mp3 files. With 10 .mp3 CD's loaded, I could drive quite a long time and not hear the same song twice. By adding the computer in the mix, now I can have ALL my music avaliable, not just what I burn to a CD. Also the changer is showing it's age, I don't think the laser is as strong as it once was, and the discs are degrading with age. From now on all I'll have to worry about is hard drive failures, and it's an Intel SSD.

Thanks for showing the suggested settings in the "Tags and Formatting" menu.

Either January or February '12...I forget.

I stopped using the ID tags because a lot of my music, which was legally purchased , has bad ID tags, so I didn't want those showing up. I am in the process of taking my 500gb library and getting the proper ID3 tags (is musicbrainz the best for this, btw?). I will try your settings, Mitch and see if that works.

FYI, I always use resume. This issue not only occurs on random startups, but also when playing a playlist and it skips around the songs. If I had to guess, I would say 1 out of every 10 songs has a blank title until I go to the audio_player skin, and then it loads. Not a deal breaker, but semi annoying.
