  • RR not opening playlists anymore..

Updated after a long delay.. I think June 2011 to March 2012. Running Win7 x64, RR+eLite Lite 1.6, latest Winamp. Everything seems fine except 2 things:

    - RRConfig expects 800x600 but my screen is only 800x480. Can a scroll bar be added or something for the vertically challenged?
    - RR doesn't let me open saved playlists anymore. When I go to open playlists like I normally do, it appears to load and returns to the Music screen, but when I check Playlist, it's empty. If I add songs manually from the library, that works fine.

I'm going to check changelog now, maybe find some clues.. any other suggestions?

    ill answer yout 2 questions...

    1. no scroll bars coming in rrconfig at this point. 800 x 600 is the minimum resolution, my suggestion is remote desktop/ teamviewer/vnc

    2. there is no change to playlists in long long time, if there ever was, possbily something corrupt with the playlist, you could attach one, .zip it
remember unicode playlists MUST be named, .m3u8 and are encoded to utf8
    -Thanks

Yeah it's weird, I'm not sure why it won't open the files. I always update and export the playlist from MediaMonkey on my home PC, and then sync it to my CarPC and never had a problem. It won't open my old playlists either that I didn't update for months.

I'll play around with it some more, I'm sure it's something minor..

What worked for me on the playlists was to open them in notepad and check to see if the path is correct.

Yes, I use Winamp to make the playlist, on the computer that I am actually using, but it looks like this:

          #EXTM3U
          #EXTINF:208,AC/DC - Highway to Hell
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\01 Highway to Hell.mp3
          #EXTINF:202,AC/DC - Girls Got Rhythm
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\02 Girls Got Rhythm.mp3
#EXTINF:309,AC/DC - Walk All Over You
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\03 Walk All Over You.mp3
          #EXTINF:265,AC/DC - Touch Too Much
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\04 Touch Too Much.mp3
#EXTINF:235,AC/DC - Beating Around the Bush
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\05 Beating Around the Bush.mp3
#EXTINF:202,AC/DC - Shot Down in Flames
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\06 Shot Down in Flames.mp3
          #EXTINF:154,AC/DC - Get It Hot
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\07 Get It Hot.mp3
\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\08 If You Want Blood (You've Got It).mp3
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\09 Love Hungry Man.mp3
          \Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\10 Night Prowler.mp3

If I try to run that playlist in RR, it does not work.

My complete path to the songs is D:\Music\AC-DC......

So I open it in notepad, do a find and replace on "\Music" replacing it with "D:\Music". That's what makes it work. The path must be complete and explicit.

For good measure I also get rid of all the lines that start with #EXTINF:....They are not needed. So a good playlist looks like this.

          #EXTM3U
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\01 Highway to Hell.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\02 Girls Got Rhythm.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\03 Walk All Over You.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\04 Touch Too Much.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\05 Beating Around the Bush.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\06 Shot Down in Flames.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\07 Get It Hot.mp3
D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\08 If You Want Blood (You've Got It).mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\09 Love Hungry Man.mp3
          D:\Music\AC-DC\Highway To Hell\10 Night Prowler.mp3

Obviously set the path to whatever it is in your system.....

          Hope that helps.

I give full credit to Mitch, he helped me with this last year.

            Jhorn,
That is exactly what I do - I export the playlist to m3u, then open it in Notepad and add the full path prefixes.

Mitch, I didn't want to post my awesomely embarrassing playlist, but since you insisted.. lol The way I see it, someone has to listen to this stuff for it to be popular, right?

Just testing some things out.. I renamed the file to .m3u8, but then RR couldn't even see it as a valid playlist file to open. Won't open any playlist, new or old. If I alt-tab to my winamp instance and load the playlist there it loads fine and then RR shows the playlist in it... While playing, I try to open a different playlist in RR and it ignores the command and continues playing the song/playlist I have on there.

Well, I'm not completely sure whether it matters or not, but I don't see the "#EXTM3U" as the first line in the notepad file...

I tested it.....It looks like it does not need that line.....my bad, I thought I had it!

if you MIX playlists with you MUSIC...

make sure, you set them as part of audiofiles!!!!!

                      rr.ini:

                      AudioFiles=

is set to contain .m3u and .m3u8

                      example
                      Code:
                      AudioFiles=.cda,.flac,.m3u,.m3u8,.m4a,.mp3,.wav,.ac3
                      -Thanks

Thanks to Mitch for helping with my issue. The problem was a code bug in my elite lite skin for loading playlists, but I compounded the problem by changing other parts of my install and just re-installed everything fresh to get a clean slate so we could fix the issue.

I'm having this issue also, and using elite... what is this code bug you are referring to?

Mitch outlined it in the new elite 2 skin coming out: http://www.mp3car.com/rr-skins-in-pr...ml#post1470750

It's not called audio_playlist_load.skin in elite lite, but it's something similar. load_playlist_skin or something like that... Change that one line and the playlist loading will work again.
