  • 2 Issues with a fresh instal of RR

I just installed the newest version of riderunner. I am using a modified BMV skin. I have everything working except two things...

    1. I have the gps working fine. I use i guidance for navigation. I have speed, altitude, lat and longitude displayed on the skin and working fine. On the main screen, I have an area that shows the current city and zip code from the gps. Before updating RR, this worked great. I placed the zips.dat into the new RR folder. Does it need to go somewhere else? Am I forgetting something?

    2. Previously working with the older version was the indicators. However, after installing the newst version, I can't get them to work. I have the indicator folder in my skin folder as before. I placed a copy in the riderunner folder as well. I installed the GPSIndFix and that didn't help. With the old RR, I needed to add GPSIndFolder=Indicators and GpsIndFix_Enabled=true into the rr.ini to make it work. I can't find a rr.ini in this new version.

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated.

RR doesn't use zips.dat at all, there is a plugin, called GPS 2 City.... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/....1%20Setup.exe

I have no idea what gpsindfix is... I surmise its not needed... but you might have a plugin corrupting indicators...
    -Thanks

Thanks Mitch. That worked. I forgot to reinstall the gps2city.

The gpsindfix was needed on the older version to get these indicators working. Also, the old rr had a rr.ini file. I can't seem to find this in the new version... Anyway, you would add GPSIndFolder=Indicators to show the folder of indicator images and GpsIndFix_Enabled=true into the rr.ini.

Since I can't find the rr.ini file, I can't add these lines. Any idea's where this file is located now?

You should find rr.ini in My Documents..
i.e. this is my path to the RR config files..
        C:\Documents and Settings\davekra\My Documents\RideRunner\Config

Thanks for your help. I will check my doc after work.

This morning on my way to work I noticed that the city didn't change automaticaly as I drove around. If I clicked on the area where I placed the city and zip on my skin, it did update to the current city. However, as I drove, it changed to another town 20 miles away... Something is goofy with it.

I decided to investigate the incorrect city showing up. I looked into the gps2city folder and found the zips.dat file. It was about half the size of the one I previously was using. I made a copy of the original gps2city zips.dat file and added my previously used zips.dat file to the gps2city folder. When I restarted rr, the correct city showed. I'll keep testing it for a few days to make sure that was the problem.

Now to figure out how to get these indicators working...

Now that I found the rr.ini, I got the indicators working by adding the lines: GPSIndFolder=Indicators and GpsIndFix_Enabled=true. Now I am getting a popup, GPSIndFix Run-time error '13': Type mismatch, every time rr starts. I am guessing the GPSIndFix is not compatible with the new version of rr. I uninstalled it and the indicators stopped working. I then reinstalled it and, after getting the popup, they worked again.
Is there a newer version of the GPSIndFix available or some way to remove that popup?

GPSFix is used with blue ZX3's indicators. I used it for years with my old version of rr without issue. Now with the updated version, I am getting the pop up. The indicators don't seem to work at all unless I use the fix and GpsIndFix_Enabled=true in the rr.ini file.

                    what indicators don't work?

I don't know of any blue ZX3's Indicators....

my advice would don't use the GPSFix, and solve the actual problem
nothing is known to me about indicators that don't work...
a plugin can destroy an indicator (bad programming, or even intentional)

course I have no idea what you got in your system, you could ATTACH a debug.txt
                    -Thanks

GpsIndFix is now a part of the Bluezx3's RRExtended plugin , so you need to install this very cool plugin !

Allows usage of additional GPS heading Indicator images to show both dir & Sat count all in one indicator
The ind will indicate the Signal strength by changing the ind color by the number of satellites,
                        meaning...weak(1-4), fair(5-6), good(7+)

"HEADING2" -Name of indicator to show the GPS DIR &/or Signal Strength

                        --------------
                        Addition Notes
                        --------------
Accepts either jpg or png file extions, it will use whichever extention is on the N.xxx/N_1.xxx ind graphi

                        ****How to use the indicator*****

To use the signal strength you must have the additional indicator graphics. These new
graphic indicator file names are the direction(N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW) followed by a _x.(jpg/png),
where x is 1-3 using the above as the guide lines. So "N_1.png" would be north with a weak signal
where as "SE_3.png" would be southeast with a good satellite signal.

Sample indicators are included in the 'Heading Ind' folder (iG style)
