  • Help With weird issue

Hello , Been using RR for what feels like 10 years now. Just redid my system and installed the 8/1/2014 release. This issue wasn't happening on the previous version from 2011 which I was messing with it minutes before upgrading. Every time I open a song in RR it will play at the previously set volume if I try to increase or decrease the volume it goes all the way to 0. I checked the tabs in the speaker icon and the wav line displays the same as in RR. Any help here? I am pretty sure it is a new setting I am missing somewhere. Oh, btw my soundcard is a USB DAC which shows up as a speaker in xp. Thanks.

Update - Disabled the realtek on board audio in system devices as well as my virtual audio cable which I use to chain the realtek line-in to my usb dac so I can use an hd radio module. All of this is now disabled as is the hd radio module in rrconfig.

In rr config it shows soundcard with 0-4 how do I know which to use?

Update - Tried all soundcard options 0-4 each set as to control all lines and then master for each option 0-4 but still no dice...

Update again - lol - Figured out when set to soundcard 0 I can control the volume through the mixer in RR by adjusting wav/master but in the skin with vol+ vol- does nothing but go to 0%... Which If I go back into the mixer I can increase the volume again... so lost and confused at this point

I am about to give up, can anyone upload a 2011 version of RR? Thank you

XP? I see mention of it... XP code hasn't changed in years! (if ever)
make sure its the default soundcard

really should move off XP, audio subsystem mucho better in vista and newer, but if you need to stay on xp... why not review debug log
          -Thanks

youre on right track, soundcard 0, its a question of what vol+ / vol- does
if memory serves, its controls what is set as the map!

but look in debug log, tells lots about mixer
            -Thanks

mitch thank you for reaching out... Yes I am using XP. I did install windows 7 on the new ssd but reverted to my backup image of xp given how reliable it worked (literally 7 years daily driving it with no issues, and that was with a mechanical drive! in a place with all 4 seasons! -20f to 100+f). The work to get windows 7 to be set top appliance esque was just to daunting and I didn't have the patience like I did years ago. I will post up the debug log in the next hour or so... I do remember in the old rrconfig it would allow me to set it as all lines/ master and wave. The wave option doesn't come up in the new rrconfig. I did read one thread from a while ago where the user had the same issue but nobody responded to a fix. I would love to get this resolved so I can move on to finishing my home automation plugin and get back to just enjoying the build

updated with debug log... Sound card set as 0. Also have it set to control all lines. Perusing the debug log it shows Que Exec: True, mixer.skin, "VOL-;WAVE", False which would explain why it worked with the older version of rr/rrconfig because it allowed me to set the control as wave slider in rrconfig of the usb dac. What do you recommend I do here mitch?

All fixed, had to manually edit RR.ini with mastervolmap=1 which represented the wave line on my usb dac! Thanks again Mitch

What was throwing me off was that rrconfig only offered 2 options -1 and 0

Yeah, I originally built my new RR setup on windows 7 but ended up back on XP as well just due to the loss of audio functionality with vista/7 in ride runner. And like you said XP was just so rock solid once setup well
